Fantasy Golf Picks, Odds, and Predictions for the 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship
2025 Sanderson Farms Championship Fantasy Preview
It’s safe to come out now…
We expected the Ryder Cup to be a loud, passionate, and raucous affair, but the action that unfolded at Bethpage Black was unlike anything the sport of golf had ever seen before.
As for the drama on the course… well, you probably know how that went already. After the first two days, Europe led 11.5-4.5, which isn’t an unassailable lead but is darn close to it.
Credit to Keegan Bradley’s troops, who fought bravely on Sunday with an 8.5-3.5 swing in the singles. But it was too little, too late, and Europe defended their title and became the first ‘road’ winners of the Ryder Cup in more than a decade.

So, after the excitement – and disappointment – of the Ryder Cup, it’s back to the PGA TOUR’s FedEx Fall we go.
Scottie Scheffler won the first event, the Procore Championship, in a higher-quality-than-usual field in California. But the roster of players heading to Mississippi for this week’s Sanderson Farms Championship is much more, shall we say, humble.
But there’s opportunities for players in the field to transform their careers with a win, so will get their hands on the iconic chicken-shaped trophy at the Country Club of Jackson?
Last Week’s Fantasy Results
There was no results last week with it being Ryder Cup Week! On to the Sanderson Farms…
The 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship Field
This is far more like the field quality we would expect from this juncture of the season.
Only four players teeing it up this week are in the OWGR top 50: Akshay Bhatia is the highest ranked at 34.
And only one of the Ryder Cup combatants, Rasmus Hojgaard, is scheduled to play this week, although the emotional – and literal – hangover from Bethpage Black means that he may have withdrawn by the time you are reading this.
Min Woo Lee is one of the most eye-catching names in a field otherwise lacking star quality, while Kevin Yu will be hoping to replicate the career-best putting display that saw him win this title 12 months ago.
This Week’s Course Preview
The Country Club of Jackson is the long-term host for this tournament, delivering what can only be described as a facile examination of the players.
There is next to no danger off the tee, with wide-open fairways and agreeable rough, so the players able to uncork the big stick and eat into the venue’s yardage, which stands at around 7,258 yards.
It’s a quintessential parklands track, with some treelines requiring the players to adopt some kind of strategy, but water is an obstacle on just five holes and there’s barely 50 bunkers on the premises.
The Bermuda greens have some quirks and runoff areas, but at last year’s edition nine of the top ten players on the leaderboard recorded a higher GIR count than fairways found percentage… so finding and holding these greens from the rough is easy enough.
Big hitters have something of an edge at the Country Club of Jackson. Of the five easiest holes here in 2024, four were the Par 5s – but three of those are 584 yards or further, so only the longest will have aspirations of making an eagle.
What’s more, the easiest hole on the real estate was the drivable Par 4 at 15, which succumbed to 187 birdies and seven eagles. It’s drivable if you can hit a straight tee shot 300 yards, anyway.
There’s little for the players to worry about, although the sixteen hole – a 479-yard Par 4 – averaged over par last year with more bogeys than birdies.
Weather Forecast for Jackson, MS
It looks set to be another hot and sunny week in Jackson.
Aside from the possibility of some rain on Tuesday, it looks set to be wall-to-wall sunshine in this corner of Mississippi.
Temperatures look set to peak at 84 degrees on Thursday, before dipping a bit in time for the weekend. And the wind speeds should be manageable too, with single digit MPH forecast.
Last Years Results
For the third straight year, the Sanderson Farms Championship ended in a playoff. And for the second year on the bounce, it was a premium ball-striker that enjoyed one of the best putting performances of his career that came out on top.
Kevin Yu is a big hitting wizard off the tee, and has genuine quality on approach, too. His short game? Well, not so great, but he knuckled down in Jackson and produced his best ever numbers on the PGA TOUR – a handsome +2.17 gain to rank second in the field with the short stick.
He still needed extra time to see off Beau Hossler, who wrestled his way into the playoff via a birdie at the penultimate hole – Yu’s birdie at the 72nd keeping his hopes alive too.
It was back to the eighteenth tee that the pair went, with Yu’s birdie putt from six feet finding the back of the cup after Hossler was unable to chip in from the bunker.
Spare a thought for Keith Mitchell, too. He led by two shots with just five to play, and left himself a 35ft putt on the last to win in regulation time. He missed that… and then the return putt as well to miss out on the playoff.
Where to Play Fantasy Golf for this Week’s the 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship
Although there’s a high degree of variance to the Sanderson Farms Championship – see Kevin Yu’s putting performance last year, this is still a nice tournament for DFS with a clear profile of player to draft.
So, we can get back into the swing of things with a flourish:
- PGA $80k Drive the Green: This is the weekly $5 contest that pays out nicely, with a variety of bankroll-boosting payouts to go with the $20k jackpot.
- PGA $250k Sand Trap: If your budget stretches a little further, here’s a $25 contest you can attack with a lineup or two. There’s plenty of prizes of $100 or more to be won, plus a maximum win of $50k for first place.
This Week’s Fantasy Notes for the 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship
It’s hard to imagine a more eclectic rollcall of champions of a PGA TOUR event.
Ryan Armour, one of the shortest hitters to play on the TOUR in recent times, won this event, and then 12 months later Cameron Champ – one of the TOUR’s longest – did likewise.
Since then, we’ve seen grinding bulldog MacKenzie Hughes, Ryder Cupper Sam Burns, and the ‘Team No Putt’ stylings of Kevin Yu and Luke List all prevail in Jackson.
The flatstick will once again likely be the edge-finder, but preference is also for those with genuine distance off the tee. As mentioned, the Country Club of Jackson is not penal in any way, so leaving wedges – even out of the rough – remains preferable to short or mid irons, given that these greens will once again have been baked by the hot sun.
As for course correlations, the leaderboards throw up some regular trends – some of which are hard to explain. The American Express and John Deere Classic are both played out as easy birdie fests, hence the similarities, but quite how the Valspar Championship, AT&T Pebble Beach, RSM Classic, and Memorial Tournament feature in that is anybody’s guess.
But check the leaderboards: there’s definitely some kind of correlation, for whatever reasons they might be.
And here’s one other possible factor to consider: how the buzz of the Ryder Cup, or even the Presidents Cup in the past, has impacted the Sanderson Farms, which is typically held a week after these events.
In 2024, Kevin Yu – who is eligible for the International team at the Presidents Cup, won the Sanderson Farms days after that tournament ended.
In 2022, MacKenzie Hughes won the Sanderson… after missing out on selection for the International team for the Presidents Cup days prior to the Mississippi date. The Canadian did not receive a captain’s pick, despite finishing higher in the standings than Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Taylor Pendrith, who did.
And in 2021, Sam Burns won the Sanderson Farms just days after the USA romped to the Ryder Cup… a team he wasn’t a million miles from being selected for in his breakthrough year.
For anyone with aspirations of playing in a major team event, the Sanderson Farms seems to be a tournament in which motivation drives the players to achieve excellent things.
Top 5 Picks/Odds to Win the 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship
Top Tier Pick # 1
Min Woo Lee (Odds: 25/1, FPPG: 65.5, Salary: $9,800)
Although it’s a way away, the American team will be desperate to make amends for their Ryder Cup horror show at next year’s Presidents Cup.
But make no mistake, watching the Ryder Cup will have lit a fire under those with aspirations of representing the International team, too.
Min Woo Lee will be one of them, and he will be keen to make early inroads into qualification with a win at a Country Club of Jackson layout that should suit his game.
Hit it long, find it, hit it onto the green, make the putt – there’s not much finesse to the Australian’s battle plan, but it often works for him… as a win at the Houston Open back in March attests.
Lee was the 54-hole leader in the DP World Tour’s Open de France a couple of weeks ago, sitting alongside Brooks Koepka with 18 holes to play. They both lost out to the PGA TOUR’s own Michael Kim in the end, but Min Woo was close to landing another title against a decent calibre of opposition.
Will he go one better this week?
Key Stats:
- Driving Distance – 15th
- Putts Per Round – 36th
- Rough Proximity – 39th
Top Tier Pick #2
Emiliano Grillo (Odds: 35/1, FPPG: 64.1, Salary: $9,300)
Another with one eye on the Presidents Cup now will be Emiliano Grillo, who hasn’t represented the International team since 2017.
But the Argentine has caught the eye with his form over the past six months or so, and he will be desperate to keep that rolling into 2026.
Grillo lost in a playoff at the correlating John Deere Classic in July, before delivering a T4 finish at the Procore Championship last time out – just three strokes behind Scottie Scheffler.
Any further persuasion can be provided by the Argentine’s form at the Country Club of Jackson, where he’s posted a number of super-low rounds in best finishes of T5 and T11 within the last three years.
Key Stats:
- Total Birdies – 23rd
- SG: Putting – 31st
- SG: Approach – 42nd
Mid-Tier Pick #1
Garrick Higgo (Odds: 45/1, FPPG: 67.3, Salary: $8,200)
Establishing himself as a PGA TOUR regular will be at the forefront of Garrick Higgo’s mind, but he’s another who may have ambitions of a Presidents Cup debut next year.
The 26-year-old is still learning his craft, but he’s already established himself as a prolific winner – five titles worldwide, including two on the PGA TOUR, are testament to that.
Higgo won the Corales Punta Cana earlier this year – as mentioned, that offers nods to success at the Country Club of Jackson, with the South African also prevailing in the weak field Palmetto Championship a few years ago.
T7 last time out at the Procore Championship, Higgo has a best of T3 to his name in the Sanderson Farms Championship already.
Key Stats:
- N/A
Mid-Tier Pick #2
Matt Wallace (Odds: 40/1, FPPG: 62.3, Salary: $8,100)
The tears of Matt Wallace after he learned he had missed out on selection for the European Ryder Cup team revealed his desperation to be involved.
He will have been watching on from home no doubt, savouring the possibility of securing his place on the roster in 2027.
Wallace will need to improve marginally to get into contention, but he certainly has the talent. Finishes of T2 and T3 within his last six starts, coming at the European Masters and 3M Open respectively, confirm that the necessary form is in place, too.
A winner of the Corales Punta Cana, where numerous players with Sanderson Farms top-tens have previously contended, sets the scene nicely.
Key Stats:
- Rough Proximity – 14th
- Par 5 Birdie or Better Leaders – 51st
- SG: Putting – 58th
Low-Tier Pick
William Mouw (Odds: 66/1, FPPG: 57.8, Salary: $7,700)
Hit the ball a long way and make some putts… it’s a blueprint that has become increasingly commonplace on the PGA TOUR in recent years.
That suggests that William Mouw is futureproofed, as he performs at a level higher than the average PGA TOUR pro off the tee and on the greens.
That has carried him to a maiden PGA TOUR title in his rookie season at the ISCO Championship, which was followed by T7 at the 3M Open. Even T38 at the short and fiddly Wyndham Championship is evidence of Mouw’s growing confidence and stature.
Key Stats:
- Driving Distance – 32nd
- SG: Putting – 34th
- Birdie Average – 45th
Sleeper Pick for the 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship
Hayden Springer (Odds: 90/1, FPPG: 68.9, Salary: $7,200)
There have been times when Hayden Springer has looked like he might be ready to break out.
Those have typically come at driver-heavy, birdie shootouts… including here 12 months ago, where he shot three rounds of 66 to finish four shots shy of the winner in T8.
It’s the nature of Springer’s game that he’s inconsistent, but his performance ceiling is high – he showed that here 12 months ago, and again at the Farmers Insurance Open earlier this year, where he finished solo sixth.
Key Stats:
- Birdie Average – 18th
- SG: Putting – 28th
- Driving Distance – 31st
Alternative Sleeper Pick for the 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship
Thomas Rosenmueller (Odds: 125/1, FPPG: 53.6, Salary: $6,900)
As we’ve learned, both Kevin Yu and Luke List delivered sublime putting performances to win this tournament since 2023… despite neither being particularly strong on the greens.
Perhaps Thomas Rosenmueller will make it a hat-trick in 2025? He certainly ticks the boxes as a long, strong ball striker that struggles from time to time on the greens.
The German’s rookie year hasn’t always been plain sailing, but this is a guy who ranks 16th on the PGA TOUR for SG: Off-the-Tee, and 37th for SG: Approach… to that end, Rosenmueller sits amongst the elite.
Can he find an uptick on the greens to match?
Key Stats:
- Driving Distance – 25th
- SG: Approach – 37th
- Birdie Average – 45th
