Fantasy Golf Picks, Odds, and Predictions for the RBC Heritage

2025 RBC Heritage Fantasy Preview

The boy from Holywood got his Hollywood ending at The Masters on Sunday. And this was a script jampacked with unexpected plot twists, jaw dropping moments of brilliance and ineptitude, before succumbing to a saccharine-sweet ending a decade in the making.

We could run you through the key moments of Rory McIlroy’s final round at Augusta. From the 350-yard drives on the front nine, to the inexplicably bad wedge approach on 13. From the career-defining approaches on the 15 and 17, to the ghastly putts on 15 and 18; this was the Northern Irishman’s career to a tee… outstanding play bedevilled by moments of madness.

In the end, his rollercoaster week needed just one more hole: birdie at the first playoff hole, courtesy of two tremendous strikes off the tee and on approach, saw McIlroy complete the career grand slam of majors and become just the sixth player to do exactly that.

His celebration, sinking to his knees and quaking with emotion, was the audiences’ payoff for an eleven-year wait to win The Masters… and the culmination of a day of scarcely believable highs and lows.

All good movies need a force of evil to take on the good guy, and in this case the pantomime villain trying to ruin the happy ending was Justin Rose… not that you could meet a more likable, affable baddie.

He experienced his own emotional curtain call at Augusta National – a painful, second playoff loss to birdie in his quest for the Green Jacket. Who knows, maybe next year he’ll finally come out on the right side of a McIlroy-esque narrative.

It will be hard for everyone to come down from the incredible action at Augusta. But there’s no rest for the wicked on the PGA TOUR, and so it’s onwards we got to the next Signature Events that is the RBC Heritage.

Last Week’s Fantasy Results

Last week was the Rory-Rose show and if you didn’t have that 1-2 punch with a little Aberg sprinkled in, then you weren’t seeing any profits.

Our top gun was Morikawa who ended up T14 but other than that, we didn’t have our A-game in Augusta.

Time for a little bounce-back at Harbour Town.

RBC Heritage Field

Perhaps sagely, McIlroy has decided to put his feet up and bask in the afterglow of his remarkable achievements at home.

Hideki Matsuyama has also decided not to make the trip to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, but otherwise the other eight members of the OWGR will all be teeing it up this week: Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Ludvig Aberg, fresh from top-tens at Augusta, leading the way.

Rose, Sungjae Im, Jason Day, and Corey Conners will also be looking to back up their form at The Masters, while Jordan Spieth – a former winner at the Harbour Town Links course – will be joined in the mix by former runners-up Patrick Cantlay and Sahith Theegala.

All told, 16 of the OWGR top-20 will take to the tee for a high quality edition of the RBC Heritage.

This Week’s Course Preview

If the players were hoping for a step down in gear from the challenges of Augusta National, they’ll get it at the Harbour Town Links. However, they’ll still need to tame an ocean breeze and a layout bearing all the hallmarks of classic Pete Dye design to do so.

This coastal track is a 7,212 yard, Par 71 with three easy Par 5s and a drivable Par 4 at the ninth hole that provides an almost automatic birdie.

Otherwise, things aren’t always what they seem here. There’s some pretty tight fairways for starters, which will almost certainly force the field to club down on a handful of occasions… or at least be comfortable approaching trademark small Dye greens from the rough.

Quality approach play and scrambling really are the order of the day at Harbour Town, with many of the greens featuring that upturned saucer shape to them – so, anything less than precision with iron and wedge in hand will likely lead to a stiff up and down for par.

Remarkably, water is in play on every single hole, and trouble really does lurk on the eighth and fourteenth holes – the former yielding double the number of bogeys or worse than the former, while the latter is a tough 192-yard, Par 3 played into what is often a howling wind.

The wind defines how difficult, or otherwise, Harbour Town Golf Links plays, but with winning scores of -17 and -19 (twice) here within the last four years, you get a flavor of the ease with which the players find the action here.

Weather Forecast for Hilton Head, SC

The early forecast on Hilton Head Island is uncharacteristically benign this week.

It looks set to be almost wall-to-wall sunshine, with some cloudier spells on Sunday, with – whisper it – minimal chance of rain. Temperatures will sit in the 69-78 degree bracket.

As for the wind, which is so important to determining the state of play at the Harbour Town Links, things aren’t looking too demanding.

Expect double-figures from Thursday through Saturday, with Friday possibly seeing the worst of things, but the breeze could die down enough to provide perfect scoring conditions come Sunday.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND WEATHER

Last Year’s Results from RBC Heritage

Literally days after landing a second Green Jacket at Augusta National, Scottie Scheffler was back at it – and winning – at the RBC Heritage.

This was quintessential Scheffler: ranking first for SG: Off the Tee and SG: Approach, and showing just about enough command of his short game to round out a three-stroke victory from Sahith Theegala.

The world number one took a while to exert his dominance – he sat T26 after an opening round of 69, but business was soon back to normal as he posted 65 on Friday and a majestic 63 on Saturday, with eight birdies and no bogeys on a day in which the field scoring average was 69.

Leading by one shot from Sepp Straka with 18 holes to play, there was a crushing sense of inevitability about an upcoming Scheffler trophy hoist. And so it proved, as he went round in a metronomic 68 – one eagle, two birdies, 14 pars, and one bogey – to lead the field home with customary comfort.

Where to Play Fantasy Golf for this Week’s RBC Heritage

It’s into another small field, Signature Event we go. But this is one for opportunity for DFS gamers, with a weak bottom end to the salary cap and a $13,100 headliner in Scottie Scheffler who, arguably, holes can be picked.

So which are the best of this week’s available contests?

  • GOLF TOUR $35k Albatross: Ideally, you don’t want find yourself short-sided in multi-entry contests this week, as the high-rolling players will be able to cover more of this small field with their roster variations. Instead, attack single-entry contests… this $12 game, with a $4k top prize, is a good place to start.
  • GOLF TOUR $50k Dogleg: And the same principles apply here. Your $33 entry affords you the chance to win a top prize of $5k, with lots of consolation payouts in a smaller 1,766 team field.

This Week’s Fantasy Notes for RBC Heritage

Each of the last five winners of the RBC Heritage are major champions, with two of those guys going on to win the PLAYERS Championship too (and the other three all posting top-fives at TPC Sawgrass).

So the message is clear: you have to be very good in all departments to prevail at Harbour Town. And form on the Florida Swing – at the PLAYERS and Arnold Palmer Invitational in particular – is most welcome.

Those two events in the Sunshine State offer plenty of correlations this week, in the sense that they are wind-affected and boast hard-to-hold greens – Dye, of course, designing both Harbour Town and TPC Sawgrass.

Consider the link to The Masters, too. Last year, of the eleven players that finished T10 or better at the RBC, eight had made the cut at Augusta – with the 1-2-3 at The Masters all finishing top-ten at Harbour Town.

That’s not a huge surprise, of course, because goof golfers playing good golf isn’t a plot twist we didn’t see coming. But it shows that form travels from Georgia to South Carolina, and that the physical and mental exertion of The Masters is not restrictive of success a week later on Hilton Head Island.

Last year, Scheffler and Theegala ranked first and third for SG: Approach, and that really is a key factor this week – particularly in that mid 100-200 yard range, where the majority of shots will be played from.

But, of course, small, upturned greens and a steady coastal breeze mean that GIR will be missed – anything above 70% is typically elite at Harbour Town. So strong chipping and scrambling will also be vital in keeping bogeys off the card… Scheffler made just two bogeys or worse all week here in 2024, and one of those came at the very last hole when he had, effectively, already won.

For context, McIlroy made 21 scores of birdie or better at The Masters last week; Scheffler posted the exact same number when winning here 12 months ago. So Harbour Town is no gimmie by any means, and keeping mistakes to a minimum is key.

Top 5 Picks/Odds to Win RBC Heritage

Top Tier Pick # 1

Collin Morikawa (Odds: 11/1, FPPG: 88.6, Salary: $10,900)

The picture is becoming clearer that Collin Morikawa needs a tune up, to compete in back-to-back weeks, to find his best golf.

In the past year alone, he’s gone 75-3-9 (Texas Open -> The Masters -> RBC Heritage), 16-4-4 (Wells Fargo ->PGA Championship -> Charles Schwab Challenge), 4-16 (Scottish Open -> British Open), and 2-10 (Arnold Palmer Invitational -> PLAYERS Championship).

Somebody in Morikawa’s camp needs to convince him to play more golf, rather than opting for such a stop-start schedule.

At least we can expect a strong showing at the RBC Heritage this week, given the trend outlined. Morikawa finished T14 at The Masters despite losing strokes to the field on and around the greens – his ball-striking, as you can guess, was elite once more.

With a week of activity under his belt, hopefully Morikawa’s short game will be sharpened ahead of a return to a venue he’s posted two top-ten finishes at within his last four visits.

Key Stats:

  • SG: Tee-to-Green – 1st
  • Scoring Average (adjusted) – 5th
  • Scrambling – 26th

Top Tier Pick #2

Corey Conners (Odds: 25/1, FPPG: 77.8, Salary: $9,800)

Another week, another outstanding performance from Corey Conners.

His T8 at The Masters was his fourth top-ten in his last five starts; a run which contains that Augusta major, as well as the PLAYERS Championship and the Signature Event that is the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

The Canadian’s short game has improved immeasurably, to sit alongside his always excellent ball striking, and he must surely fancy his chances of a long-awaited third PGA TOUR title at Harbour Town.

Conners’ best efforts here are T4 and T12, but he’s also fired plenty of rounds in which he bettered the day’s scoring average too. He loves it at Harbour Town… so what a time to visit, given how well he’s playing right now.

Key Stats:

  • Greens in Regulation – 13th
  • Bogey Avoidance – 42nd
  • Scrambling – 49th

Mid-Tier Pick #1

Wyndham Clark (Odds: 50/1, FPPG: 68.9, Salary: $8,400)

The improving form of Wyndham Clark at Harbour Town falls in line with his general ascendance as a player over recent years, with a T3 finish here in 2024 his best effort yet at the venue.

There’s a bit more subtlety and nuance to Clark’s game these days, aside from bomb and gouge, and his class within the wedge and short iron range makes him a dangerous customer this week.

He made the cut at Augusta, ticking another box, and heads to South Carolina with confidence flowing after a T5 in Houston too.

When conditions are in his favor, Clark has shown that he can mix it with the best in the world.

Key Stats:

  • Par 4 Scoring Average – 27th
  • SG: Around-the-Green – 40th
  • Greens in Regulation – 40th

Mid-Tier Pick #2

Brian Harman (Odds: 66/1, FPPG: 69.2, Salary: $7,600)

There’s plenty to be said for a low risk, back to basics style of golf at Harbour Town, where breaking par at the three Par 5s and drivable Par 4 – but keeping bogey off the card otherwise, is key.

It’s the sort of setup that suits Brian Harman, who has crafted a niche for himself of getting out in front in breezy conditions and then playing granite golf from there – both his wins at the British Open and Texas Open testament to that.

Harman, who drove the ball nicely and made the cut at Augusta, has three top-tens, a T12, and a T13 to his name at Harbour Town so far.

Key Stats:

  • Greens in Regulation – 27th
  • Bogey Avoidance – 28th
  • SG: Approach – 52nd

Low-Tier Pick

Sahith Theegala (Odds: 70/1, FPPG: 74.0, Salary: $7,300)

By our reckoning, Sahith Theegala’s ball-striking performance at The Masters last week was his best since the TOUR Championship in September.

A strangely below-par week around the greens cost the Californian any improvement on his T29 finish, but nevertheless he will take plenty of confidence with him to a Harbour Town layout where he finished solo second 12 months ago.

T5 in this event back in 2023 as well, there’s just something about Harbour Town that suits Theegala’s eye – given that he struck the ball so nicely at Augusta, there’s plenty to like about his chances of another strong showing on Hilton Head Island.

Key Stats:

  • Putts Per Round – 48th
  • Birdie Average – 51st
  • Approaches from Inside 100 Yards – 70th

Sleeper Pick for RBC Heritage

Harris English (Odds: 80/1, FPPG: 65.7, Salary: $7,200)

The Masters is as good a place as any to produce your best approach play numbers since 2023.

That was the foundation for Harris English’s excellent T12 finish at Augusta, where he also made gains on the field on and around the greens.

It continues the positivity in his game since his somewhat shock win at the Farmers Insurance Open in February, which has also brought T18 at the Houston Open, plus a solid T30 at the PLAYERS.

Although his form is patchy at Harbour Town, it’s worth remembering that he does have a T8 finish here… and, in 2025, heads to the layout in a rich vein of form.

Key Stats:

  • SG: Putting – 17th
  • Scoring Average (adjusted) – 58th
  • Bogey Avoidance – 62nd

Alternative Sleeper Pick for RBC Heritage

Billy Horschel (Odds: 100/1, FPPG: 57.0, Salary: $6,800)

It was a strange week for Billy Horschel at Augusta, where he gained a considerable +1.67 strokes on the field on approach through 36 holes and yet still missed the cut.

You’ll know that that means his short game was off, but that’s a rarity given Horschel’s skillset, and we expect him to bounce back in that department this week.

T4 at the correlating Valspar Championship in March, Horschel – who has two top-tens to his name at Harbour Town – will surely chip and putt better this week. If his approach play improvement holds, he could outperform expectations to some tune.

Key Stats:

  • Putts Per Round – 43rd
  • Bogey Avoidance – 56th
  • Scrambling – 61st
