There’s an infinite number of reasons that make golf one of the greatest games on Earth, but one near the top is the game’s universal commitment to philanthropy. Indeed, both professionals and amateurs frequently look to raise funds to honor a charitable cause and do their part to help.

Firestone Country Club, renowned as one of North America’s most historic venues for championship golf, will host the 2023 Invited Charity Classic on the club’s championship South Course on October 10. The day will begin with lunch and registration before participants will take to the South Course (pictured above) for the four-person scramble tournament. After the golf, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served, followed by dinner, an awards presentation, and the silent auction.

Registration is now open for the tournament at a cost of $400 per player or $1,600 per four-person team. Tickets for the dinner and silent auction portion only are available for $100 per person. Various sponsorship opportunities are also available, and guests are welcome to donate a product or service to be featured in the silent auction by filling out and returning this form by October 5. Those unable to attend may contribute to the general donation fund and help reach the goal of $75,000 benefitting Invited’s Employee Partners Care Foundation and the Greater Cleveland Junior Golf Scholarship Fund.

Firestone Country Club General Manager Jay Walkinshaw said:

“Growing the game of golf in our area and giving back to our employees are two foundational parts of who we are at Firestone Country Club, and we are excited to once again welcome our community to take part in those efforts through the Invited Charity Classic. We look forward to this event every year, and we are proud to support the Invited Employee Partners Care Foundation and the Greater Cleveland Junior Golf Scholarship Fund, two causes that are very important to us as a club and members of the Northeast Ohio community.”

The Invited Employee Partners Care Foundation (EPCF) was established in 2007 to meet the immediate needs of club and home office employees experiencing an unexpected, temporary hardship (e.g., loss of housing, sudden death in the family, medical emergency). The EPCF has assisted 2,500+ employees and their families, including staff of Firestone Country Club.

The Greater Cleveland Junior Golf Scholarship Fund (GCJGSF) was established in October 1980 by 5 Cleveland area parents. This tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization is designed to provide an instructional program for youth, ages 6-18 in the sport of golf.

The primary target group is underrepresented children. Our objectives are to provide golf instruction to youth ages 6 through 18 years old, a comprehensive instructional golf program based on current PGA guidelines, which is a structured program that develops and rewards excellence in the achievement of academic and personal goals.

Additionally, the fund provides financial assistance and information towards their pursuit of higher education beyond high school & access to a network of mentors from the Greater Cleveland business, professional, religious, and political communities.
