FIRST LOOK: Meet the Titleist T100•S Forged Irons
Titleist’s inaugural T-Series irons have something for nearly everyone—the T100 for the golfer who wants a traditionalist’s fully-forged, player’s iron, the T200 for the player who enjoys the forged feeling with some distance and forgiveness assistance in a compact club head and the T300 for the golfer who needs forgiveness that will provide maximum distance across the entire face.

Naturally, this is great if you fit into one of three categories, but what happens if you’re a golfer who’s in between, particularly in the event you’re someone who’s shopping the T100s but could use a few additional yards without compromising the fully-forged feeling, thin toplines and minimum offset.
Have no fear, because Titleist has received feedback and answered the call with the T100•S.

Modeled after the tour-refined design of the new Titleist T100 model—which has become the most played irons this season on the PGA Tour—the new T100•S irons are designed to have all of T100’s characteristics with a redesigned emphasis that provides additional distance by tweaking the lofts 2-degrees stronger loft throughout the entire set.
As stated by Josh Talge, Vice President, Titleist Golf Club Marketing:
“As we were launching the new T-Series, we met a lot of golfers who were really excited about T100 but had become accustomed to playing stronger-lofted iron sets. It would have been really easy to just take T100’s and bend them stronger for those players. But by doing that you start to sacrifice the incredible feel and turf interaction – the reasons why players were gravitating toward them in the first place. So our engineers went back and redesigned each individual iron to give these players the stronger lofts and distance they’re looking for, while preserving the performance of that pure forged shape and sole.”

In order to provide additional distance while still maintaining the T100’s strengths while not compromising its performance, Titleist designed a new fully-forged dual cavity construction that complements the 2-degree stronger lofts and provides precise distance and control, along with a thinner, more responsive face increases ball speed across the face.
Same as the T100, the T100•S irons will feature a thin topline, minimal offset and enhanced camber for improved turf interaction, along with co-forged dual-density tungsten (with an average of 66 grams placed in the heel and toe of the mid and long irons) that will provide exceptional stability. Furthermore, the T100•S have also been designed with progressive blade lengths, sole widths and hosel lengths, which, as a result, deliver optimal CG positioning with preferred shaping through the set.
Comparison of T100 and T100•S Lofts:
| Iron: | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | PW | W |
| T100 | 21º | 24º | 27º | 30º | 34º | 38º | 42º | 46º | 50º |
| T100•S | 19º | 22º | 25º | 28º | 32º | 36º | 40º | 44º | 48º |

“While we’ve engineered T100•S for distance, this still a precision product,” said Marni Ines, Director, Titleist Irons Development, Golf Club R&D. “To be a great iron player you need to be in control of your distances and have the ability to work the ball when the shot calls for it. The design of T100•S simply allows players to hit their number from even farther away – with the tight dispersion and proper trajectory they need to hit it close.”

T100•S’s stock shaft will be the True Temper Project X LZ (Mid launch, low spin | 120g) that should enhance ball speed and launch for maximum distance with the proper trajectory to stop shots closer to the hole.
The T100•S irons will be available in golf shops worldwide beginning March 27th, with fittings beginning March 12th, and will retail at $175 per club (or $1,399 for a set of 8 clubs).
