Just For Fun
For the Golfer/Gamer: Simply Putting is Simply Awesome
I’ve been playing video games most of my life. I started playing golf video games on a PC (I think it was called Links Pro) before I even liked golf. That evolved to the Tiger Woods games on PlayStation and Golden Tee at bars. The one thing all those games had in common was that they were just games. Designed to be fun and in most cases, not realistic. With Simply Putting you’re not playing another arcade style golf game.
You are training yourself to read the greens. How is that possible if you’re playing a game? With Simply Putting they have created a game that is an interactive green book. It gives you arrows all along the green and options to view the putt from different directions. After you read the putt to the best of your ability, you pick your aim point and hit the putt button.

If you read the putt correctly your phone starts to vibrate. Kind of like what the controller would do on Tiger Woods PGA Tour when you hit a perfect shot. If you didn’t read it doesn’t go in. It’s that simple. With each putt you see the line the ball travels on, so you can see how the different directions of the green affect the putt. The game has a practice mode where you can play 6,9 or 18 holes. It randomly selects a green and the starting point.
It keeps track of how many putts it takes you to make it in per hole. You’re playing golf but instead of hitting driver, iron, wedge first, you are on the green from start to finish. Before each hole you get the hole number and par along with the distance of the putt. At the end of your round it gives you your putting stats. All the same information you would get as if you were putting with the Golf Scope App that came out last year. In addition to that there are matches you can compete in and daily challenges. The game really gives you a wide variety of things to do, all focused around my personal favorite part of golf… putting.

Pro Putt Feature
What’s changing the game of golf is the Pro Putt feature. Imagine watching the US Open at home. You see Tiger Woods hit a shot within 20 feet of the pin. You will get a push notification asking you “Can you make Tigers putt?”. Pebble Beach hole 7 and 17 have been mapped. You can choose up to five pros competing in the event and try to make their putt live! This is taking the way we watch golf to a new level.
How many times have you watched a tournament on TV and seen a putt that you said, “I can make that”. This game is putting your money where your mouth is. You will get points or coins for every successful made putt and everyone’s score will be posted on a global leaderboard, so you can see who is truly the king of the green. As the season goes on, Simply Putting is looking to get more holes and more tournaments added.
The goal of Simply Putting is to change the way golfers play the game they love, on the go. They have been in talks with other courses to potentially map the greens at local courses in the game. Having the ability to study the greens at your local courses, before you play. Practice your putts and be as prepared as possible before you get out to the real course. Simply Putting is available only on the Apple App store for right now. There are plans to make this available on Android in the future but no eta as of now. At no cost to download and play this game it’s worth a download. With the U.S. Open set to tee off on June 13th, it is the perfect time to give Simply Putting a try.
