Another Golf Brawl Takes Place Over Slow Play

Yesterday in England, there was an incident at the Greenway Hall Golf Club in Stockton Brook that has something to do with slow pace. Apparently players on the links were upset over some slow play in front of them. That’s something most of us can relate to, but what happened next was anything but typical of your usual Sunday round.

After a confrontation an outright brawl broke out among the golfers and it got so bad that police were called to the course. Since they were so far out on the course, however, the officers couldn’t drive their car or walk all the way out. Instead, the two officers took golf carts from the clubhouse and drove out to the scene.

They were able to break up the fight but damage was already done and many of those involved are expected to be charged.

In these unique circumstances, the police commander in the area was very pleased with how his officers handled the situation. “I’m very proud of my officers,” Commander John Owen said. “They’ve used initiative, gone to a fight (as we always do) outnumbered, and have resolved it resulting in peace and order. Hole-in-one I’d say!”

The severity of this incident isn’t completely known at this time but there are many rumors of weapons being used. The police on the scene apparently told some in the media that there was some broken bones as a result of the attack.

This is a perfect opportunity to remind all players that we need to keep cool heads on the course. Because even though slow play can be annoying, you can always ask to play through, rather than turn to violence.
