Henrik Stenson Wins $4.3 Million In First LIV Event Showing
Just two weeks after surrendering his Ryder Cup captaincy for Team Europe and jumping ship from the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, Henrik Stenson has raked in an astounding $4,375,000 at the Bedminster, N.J. stop.
With $4 million allocated for his win and $375,000 for his team’s second-place finish, it was a very lucrative weekend for the shortest-tenured Ryder Cup captain ever.

Stenson shot a two under 69 for an overall weekend showing of -11. His closest competitors were Matthew Wolff and Dustin Johnson, both T-2 at -9. The debut for the 46-year-old Swedish golfer proved to be financially successful, with his Majestics team netting his additional proceeds.
His win did not come without a price, however. Stenson was stripped of his Ryder Cup captaincy after his decision to play for LIV. After his win, Stenson was quoted as saying that he “played like a captain.” Unfortunately, he won’t be able to represent Team Europe, but his bank account might console his woes.

Luke Donald has been a vocal critic of Stenson amid the backlash from Team Europe. In campaigning for himself, Donald took a shot at Henrik, claiming he “wouldn’t be doing a Henrik,” essentially calling out the former captain by stating he’d see it through.
