Ian Happ Fired a 69 and Still Lost to PGA TOUR Pro Who Shot a Course Record 58!

I miss baseball. It’s one of my favorite sports to watch in the background while I’m working on my putting at night.

I’m a north Chicago suburbs guy (almost Wisconsin but whatever) so naturally I’m a Cubs fan. With professional sports canceled right now, I actually have something in common with the guys I watch take the field at Wrigley on a daily basis. We both can play golf.

One big difference though is they are way better at it than I am. Not only can Ian Happ (@ihapp_1) play baseball at an elite level, he nearly beat a PGA TOUR pro on the golf course.

Ok, with an 11 stroke difference he actually wasn’t close, but that’s because PGA TOUR player Joel Dahmen (@Joel_Dahmen) shot a course record 58! He did this by firing 3 eagles on his back 9!

I cant even shoot a 58 in a video game.

Happ went five under on the back to finish with a 69. This was good enough for a tie for second in their group that included fellow Cubs teammate Kyle Schwarber (@kschwarb12).

Kyle shot a respectable 81 and I’m guessing he probably had the longest drive, but I can’t confirm that. Mostly because I wasn’t there, and they didn’t mention it. In case you don’t follow baseball, Schwarber hits BOMBS!

Kyle Schwarber likes it down and in!

With baseball possibly coming back after the traditional all-star break, it’s nice to see the boys of summer getting to enjoy a little extra golf than they normally would. When the season starts, and they are back here in Chicago, I would gladly invite them to join me.

If they don’t mind giving me 25 strokes.

Ed started playing golf when he was 18. It started out as a hobby and something he liked to do but by 2014 it had turned into a full blown obsession. Since then Ed has committed himself to improving and learning more about the game. He doesn’t work in the golf industry, he’s not a teaching pro, he’s a guy who just loves the game and enjoys sharing his thoughts with others who share the same passion.
