No Fans Mean No Brooks Koepka For The Ryder Cup

“I personally don’t want to play if there’s no fans,” is what Brooks has to say about playing in the Ryder Cup during an interview with Golf Channel’s Gary Williams.

“I don’t see a point in playing it.” What surprises me the most about this comment is that I kind of side with Koepka on this one. It’s hard to forget how hard team Europe’s fans celebrated last time.

What makes the Ryder cup so amazing is that it has more of an NBA finals feel instead of golf tournament. Fans from both sides pledge allegiance to their country, not just a player. It’s one of the few times fans actually root for Patrick Reed or Ian Poulter.

Well, maybe not everyone but you get the idea. Fans make this event so special and without them it won’t be the same. I want competitive golf back as much as the next fan but a fan less Ryder Cup doesn’t get my sports fan juices going. No fans at a regular tournament I’m cool with, but not this.

Let’s push it back a year and do it right.

Ed started playing golf when he was 18. It started out as a hobby and something he liked to do but by 2014 it had turned into a full blown obsession. Since then Ed has committed himself to improving and learning more about the game. He doesn’t work in the golf industry, he’s not a teaching pro, he’s a guy who just loves the game and enjoys sharing his thoughts with others who share the same passion.
