Not long after an illustrious NBA career had come to a close, J.R. Smith had enrolled at North Carolina A&T to pursue a collegiate golf career.

Not making the headlines was the progress that Smith had made in the classroom as his golf adventure began, amassing an impressive 4.0 GPA and landing himself Academic Athlete of the Year at his school.

Not too many had noticed his dedication to his studies, but his diligence in the classroom has paid off.

In his first collegiate golf tournament, J.R. carded an 83, turning heads in the process. The sight of a former NBA Champion on the links with a college team was astounding to see.

During the second round, Smith notably stepped on a beehive.

Athletic successes have been no stranger to Smith, and recently he has expanded his prowess to fashion and academics.

Lululemon made it official by inking Smith to an endorsement deal, making Smith the subject of new ad campaigns.

J.R. Smith is showing the world that you can always take the time to reinvent yourself, but beyond just that, Smith is demonstrating how to excel and really commit.

The golf world is better for having J.R. become a recognizable face of the game. It’s great to see him enjoy the game and succeed beyond the greens and court.
