Jason Day’s Scripting Causes a Stir At Farmers Insurance Open
Jason Day’s scripting from Malbon caused a stir at the Farmers Insurance Open this past weekend as tournament officials reportedly asked the Major Champion and former World #1 to cover a logo on his back.
Malbon’s clothing certainly breaks the boundaries of what is considered “traditional” in the golf world. However, it seems the PGA TOUR is putting its foot down as certain aspects have evidently drawn unwanted attention from the TOUR.
A report from HypeBeast states that officials from the TOUR approached Day this past weekend and asked him to cover a sizeable Malbon logo on the back of his windbreaker. A member of Malbon was asked to cover the logo on the jacket:

This occurred during the third round of the tournament at Torrey Pines, which was played on Friday instead of its usual Saturday slot. The scheduling was done to offset the tournament from the final round of NFL Playoff games before the Super Bowl in two weekends.
Day ended up removing the jacket and playing the third round in a polo.
This is not the first time this has happened to Day, as he was also asked to remove a piece of clothing at The Masters last April. Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley approached Day on Friday and discussed removing a sweater, which he did out of respect for the tournament and the course.
Malbon is one of the premier brands in golf apparel and has built a reputation for creating quality pieces with looks that push the envelope. However, it seems the PGA TOUR is overstepping its boundaries here as it is becoming more controlling. Day’s plain black jacket with simple lettering on the back is one of the more conservative pieces Malbon creates.
