John Daly II Posts 68 En Route to U.S. Amateur Qualification at Hazeltine
John Daly II, the son of Major Champion John Daly, has qualified for the U.S. Amateur at Hazeltine following a -2 68 at Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.
Daly was one of sixteen players to qualify for the U.S. Amateur through Final Qualifying at Brook Hollow. Sterling Hurd, Leandro Mihaich, and Andrew Tan all finished -5 with 65s in their final qualifying rounds, finishing T1.
Daly, who just finished up his redshirt Sophomore campaign at the University of Arkansas, fired a 35 on the front and a 33 on the back to qualify for the U.S. Amateur. He managed to have six birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey during the course of his round.
Took some time today and drove out to see some of the final round of the Porter Cup. An elite amateur event won by @PhilMickelson, Brian Harman, Denny McCarthy and more!

The U.S. Amateur is a prestigious tournament that has been won by several big names that have turned into successes on the PGA TOUR.
Viktor Hovland, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Arnold Palmer are just a few of the names on the list who have won the Amateur and gone on to have successful careers as professionals, of course at different levels.
Nick Dunlap won the 2023 U.S. Amateur over Neil Shipley and has won on TOUR as an amateur and a professional, picking up his first pro win this past weekend at the Barracuda Championship.
The winner of the U.S. Amateur is able to play The Masters and U.S. Open, getting an automatic exemption for the victory. The runner-up also receives these invitations.
