Jordan Spieth Disqualified from the Genesis Invitational
The woes for the PGA Tour’s stars continue as Jordan Spieth is disqualified from the weekend at the Genesis Invitational.
Having completed his round in frustrating fashion with several putts that slid by, Spieth still sat within the top 10, before a double on 18 dropped him back to three under for the tournament and a second round 73.
Spieth took full responsibility and released this statement via Instagram and X:
“Today, I signed for an incorrect scorecard and stepped out of the scoring area, after thinking I went through all procedures to make sure it was correct. Rules are rules, and I take full responsibility. I love this tournament and golf course as much as any on @PGATOUR so it hurts to not have a run at the weekend. Really appreciated the support in LA.”

Perhaps an honest mistake, but Spieth signed for a par 3 on the 4th hole, where he instead made a bogey four.
The debate continues, this stuff doesn’t happen all too often but always triggers a backlash when it does – when every aspect of the game is recorded – can’t someone else track the scores of these guys? If they lose their scorecard out there, I’m sure someone has the necessary data to help them replace it. It seems ridiculous to lose one of your stars over the weekend for a mathematical error or brief mental blip.
In addition to Tiger withdrawing from the tournament and Cantlay opening up a five shot lead after two rounds – this isn’t the strongest news week so far for the PGA Tour.
