Jordan Spieth Makes Cut At PLAYERS After Getting A Little Help From A Fan

Jordan Spieth stood on the ninth tee at TPC Sawgrass on Friday and needed a birdie on his final hole of the day to make the weekend. If you watched Full Swing, you don’t need any explanation on what the cut is, and let’s just say one fan truly helped the 2015 Masters Champion avoid an early private flight home.

Spieth hit a big cut out to the right, and it was headed toward the water that runs up the side of the fairway. “Is that out of play?” Spieth asked longtime caddy Michael Greller, as the two’s dialogue is an all-too-common audio piece picked up by mics on the course.

Spieth’s ball was likely headed toward the water, which would have made playing the weekend a virtual uncertainty. Instead, a fan’s knee kept the ball in play and actually put Spieth’s Titleist ProV1x back in the middle of the fairway.

He said:

“I got an extremely lucky break on 9, or I wouldn’t be playing the weekend.”

The best part: Spieth is going to pay him in any way possible.

“Trying to get that guy’s information and see literally whatever he wants this weekend because everything from here on out is because it hit him.”

Speith said to the fan that he was sorry and that if there was anything he could do or anyone he wanted to bring out for the weekend, he was more than welcome.

Spieth would end up chipping in from the fringe to eagle the hole and make the cut. The second round will continue tomorrow after a weather delay derailed play for the rest of Friday.

The big question is: What would you do if you saved Jordan Spieth from missing the cut at perhaps the biggest non-major of the year? For me, it would be simple: a set of Titleist T100S with a fitting, a round with him and Justin Thomas with lunch after, and tickets to Augusta.

What would you want? Be sure to let us know.
