With the third round of the HSBC Champions over, and only one day left to play, the world’s elite players have upped their game for a chance to be in contention to bag a high profile victory in Shanghai.

One golfer who turned his game around yesterday was world number two, Jordan Spieth, who has moved from tied 27th to tied 5th after carding a phenomenal third round of 63.

Spieth got off to a flying start, despite the difficult conditions, after back-to-back birdies on the 3rd and 4th, and again on the 8th and 9th.

He then continued his form, with five further birdies, including one on the 18th to finish off a great round of -9, leaving him only three shots behind of leader Kevin Kisner, who is at -16.

Jordan is said to be pushing for a high profile victory to cap off his great golfing year, and after his third round, he thinks that it could be possible.

He said: “I was not expecting myself to be in this position on Sunday when the week started.  Tomorrow’s strategy will be kind of like today; be aggressive.”

“I will take a few chances and see if it pays off.  If I can put some pressure on a group or two ahead, you never know how things could back up.”

Dustin Johnson, who is only one shot behind Kisner on -15, is also seeking a second WGC win of 2015 after success in the WGC-Cadillac earlier this year.

With only 18 holes left to play, it will be a close race for top spot, and no doubt will the heat be turned up for the tomorrow’s final day in Shanghai.
