Justin Thomas Addresses LIV Lawsuits: “They’re Suing Me, They’re Suing Rory, They’re Suing Tiger”

Justin Thomas spoke out on the No Laying Up podcast on June 28, explaining that the LIV Golfers who have filed the anti-trust lawsuit against the PGA Tour are not only affecting the PGA Tour.

“They’re suing me, they’re suing Rory, they’re suing Tiger,” JT explained that the LIV Players who have chosen to file the lawsuit are suing all those they have played in events with and those who have represented the same cup teams.

Thomas explained the feelings of betrayal and continued to voice how the lawsuits hurt the Tour that he represents. And the lawsuits themselves make little sense. Suing the organization that has enabled the professional golf career to be so lucrative, the very same PGA Tour that has been lambasted for not listening to its players, or having unattractive events, or all the other reasons that players used to justify jumping to LIV.

Why sue the Tour for playing privileges? That will affect family time, will it not? With reports of Patrick Reed wanting to play on the Asian Tour, as well as lawsuits aimed at resuming playing privileges on the PGA Tour, the LIV Golfers will have their hands full. Which defeats the point of joining LIV in the first place.

Justin Thomas remains a stalwart of the PGA Tour voice, and it is difficult to see how things don’t get uglier going forward. Professional golf remains in a precarious position, and there is no way that the golfers alone are this cynical and strategic. The driving force behind the lawsuits has clearly demonstrated that they do not intend to grow the game but rather tear down its current order.

He focuses on writing opinion pieces while keeping up to date with LIV Golf, Tour events and Major championships, providing good insights into the professional game. His best golf memories are shooting 72 with a double on 18, running the Golf Society at Lancaster University, and steering them to the first ever Varsity win against rivals York. His favorite club is his Scotty Cameron Newport 2.0, and his favorite event is the Masters!
