LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman said:

“This is a momentous day for LIV Golf as this partnership is about more than just media rights… The CW will provide accessibility for our fans and maximum exposure for our athletes and partners as their reach includes more than 120 million households across the United States. We’re very proud to note how consequential it is that a league that has only existed for one year has secured a full broadcast deal in its debut full league season.”

Details of the TV deal were leaked by LIV commentator David Feherty just a few days ago:

“Have you heard of CW? I might get fired for this, but…”

LIV Golf said in a press release that the second and third rounds of their three-day, 54-hole tournaments would be aired on live TV on Saturdays and Sundays via the CW and CW app. The opening round, which airs on Friday, will be exclusive to the CW app.

CW Network President Dennis Miller said:

“Our new partnership between The CW and LIV Golf will deliver a whole new audience and add to the growing worldwide excitement for the league… With CW’s broadcasts and streams, more fans across the country and around the globe can partake in the LIV Golf energy and view its innovative competition that has reimagined the sport for players, fans and the game of golf.”

Previously, LIV Golf streamed its eight 2022 tournaments on YouTube for free, but viewership was relatively low compared to what the PGA Tour would do on average. A mainstream TV broadcasting deal is what was likely LIV’s single largest bottleneck in accumulating more viewership. As we previously reported, the LIV Golf tour has no shortage of names and talent, and even more names are expected to join this year.

Joey Klender is a reporter covering Equipment, Footwear, and Apparel. A huge golf fan, he calls a certain week in April his favorite of the year. Inspired by the likes of Woods, Palmer, McIlroy, and Koepka, Joey plays over 100 times a year in the South Central Pennsylvania area. When he isn't golfing, he is probably thinking about golfing, but he might be watching other sports, writing, or playing poker.
