Welcome to “The People’s Tournament”, ladies and gentlemen.

Ah yes, the Waste Management Open, when golf finally lets its collective hair down and has a little fun.

Or in this case, takes all of its clothes off and runs around the golf course for about five minutes.

Phoenix Open Streaker

A streaker stole the show at the Waste Management Phoenix Open on Wednesday on the 17th hole of the Annexus Pro-Am. He got a standing ovation.

According to Ginger Rough (amazing name, by the way) of AZ Central, the man, named Adam Stalmach, spent five minutes on the drive-able par-4, 17th hole break dancing, practicing his golf swing, playing in a bunker, and, um, falling down a lot.

Naturally, the crowd witnessing the entire thing went crazy, cheering, throwing golf balls at him, and eventually giving the man the standing ovation he so richly deserved.

“Stalmach showed signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication,” said Sgt. Ben Hoster, a spokesman for Scottsdale police.

Safe to say that’s a candidate for understatement of the year.
