This Hawaiian Golfer is All of Us

We have all likely played through some tough conditions on the golf course. Whether that be extreme heat, wind gusts, torrential rain, or freezing temperatures.

But yesterday, Mark Gardner, a high school math teacher from Hawaii, played through the be all end all of tough conditions.

A missile strike warning.

By now you’ve likely heard of the colossal mistake made by Hawaii in sending out an errant warning to everyone on the islands. A mistake that was officially corrected for 38 minutes.

While some were ducking into basements or under tables or even into bathtubs for safety, Mr. Gardner simply continued his round of golf.

Thankfully, his daughter, Alohi, shared video of her father on the course.

“I just parred the last hole and I just hit the shishnik out of my ball. So I love you all, but I’m playing golf if it’s the last thing that I’m gonna do.”

Amen to that, Mr. Gardner.

Kris became obsessed with the game of golf after deciding to finally hang up his baseball cleats about four years ago. Still learning the game, he’s leaned on much of the on-line golf community for help and loves to return the favor whenever possible. A contributor to several golf sites in the past, Kris writes from the perspective of your average golfer. One who has a passion for the game, but also has the typical restrictions of life and budget.
