Masters Week Kicks Off Without Phil For The First Time Since 1994

Phil Mickelson is out of sight but not out of mind this 2022 Masters Week.

Mickelson has taken a leave of absence from golf to take time away after his obtusely polarizing words and failed PGA coup attempt, but his presence, or lack thereof, is certainly felt.

During a press conference, Bryson Dechambeau noted Phil’s absence and claimed to have reached out with no success.

Mickelson made his Masters debut in 1991.

With Masters wins coming in 2004, 2006, and 2010, the lefty has found success at the annual major.

As the field kicks off into competition without Phil Mickelson, the void is felt but understood. Everyone makes mistakes, and we all deserve second chances.

While it is understandable that the sabbatical is necessary, Mickelson fans can’t help but notice the absence.
