More PGA TOUR Live Streaming Coming to Facebook
It was announced yesterday that the PGA TOUR has agreed to a deal with Facebook that will live stream eight tournaments for the remainder of the year. The streams will be starting with the Traveler’s Championship right before the FedExCup starts.
The new live stream will be made available on Facebook Watch in the U.S. under the PGA TOUR Live brand.
While the coverage will be live, it won’t have the full coverage that other networks will get. According to the deal, the Facebook stream will follow two groups live during the third and fourth rounds of the Travelers Championship in the morning. The stream will also feature some highlights, recaps, and previews for other upcoming events.

The PGA TOUR is obviously excited a new partnership that is bound to spread their appeal across the world. “We are thrilled to add Facebook to an already impressive lineup of global digital and broadcast partners,” said Chris Wandell, VP Media Business Development of the PGA Tour. “The PGA TOUR has put a premium on distributing exclusive content on emerging media platforms with a goal of reaching new and diverse audiences.”
Outside of the Travelers Championship, only a few other events have been confirmed as being a live stream. Some of the other confirmed events include the Quicken Loans National, Bridgestone Invitational, and the Wyndham Championship.
It’s currently unknown if those streams will also follow only two groups or have more coverage.
Overall, this is a big win for the PGA TOUR as it looks to spread its appeal to more audiences. Hopefully, this is just the beginning to a long and continuing partnership between the two groups.
