New PGA Tour Champions Tour Qualifier Will Keep His Day Job as Club Pro
Jason Caron has worked his way onto the PGA Tour Champions circuit the old-fashioned way.
Instead of just getting hot at Q school, he’s consistently qualified for events all season and then crushed it after making the field.
After logging three top-four finishes in eight events, his third-place effort at the Simmons Bank Championship last week put him into the top 36 on the money list. That qualifies him for the season-ending Charles Schwab Championship and a guaranteed tour card for 2025.
“I’m in disbelief, to be honest.”

But Caron’s not forgetting his roots, which is being the club pro at Mill River Club on Long Island in New York.
Caron said after finishing third last week.
“I’m still going to be working, I’m not going to be full time and every single week, [but] I’ll definitely play. I don’t see why not that we couldn’t work things out. I know Mill River’s going to be super excited for this. At work, it’s going to be a lot easier for me now to sit down with them, and I can actually tell ’em, like listen, I can play any event. So you tell me when you’re going to have your events, and we’ll make it happen.”
It started for Caron by qualifying for the Senior PGA Championship and coming through there to finish fourth. From there, he was an alternate and sponsor’s exemption at a few tournaments before he earned his way into other events by carding strong finishes.

He said he’ll play more events in the winter while his club is closed, but if he’s invited to any majors, he’ll make time to play in those.
