Patrick Cantlay on Netflix Doc and PGA Tour Mic’ing Up Players: ‘Not for Me’
“Full Swing,” the Netflix docuseries on the PGA Tour, is set to debut next Wednesday, Feb. 15.
But one PGA Tour star isn’t too excited about the access and drama that will be sure to unfold.
Patrick Cantlay, the 2021 FedEx Cup champion, said before this week’s WM Phoenix Open that he’s not too excited to jump into the mix for the new series along with other attempts to give media more access to the players.
“I don’t know, I’ll see about if I want to do it next year. I haven’t watched it yet, so I might take a look at it, but it’s not too high on my priority list,” Cantlay said about “Full Swing.”

Cantlay was also asked about CBS doing in-round interviews and their debut of having a player mic’ed up for a hole—which we saw at Torrey Pines with Max Homa.

It didn’t seem to distract Homa in any way, as he wound up winning the Farmers Insurance Open last month, but Cantlay said this wasn’t for him either.
“Yeah, I saw that. That’s been great. Probably not something for me, but I think it’s great that those guys who want to do it are able to give those insights while they’re out there playing,” Cantlay said. “For some guys, that may be exactly what they want to do, but for me, I think I just want to focus on the golf while I’m out there.”
Jon Rahm was also asked about it. He said that he would consider it—but only under certain circumstances.
“They’ve asked me to do the AirPod thing. I’m not so sure about it. I still haven’t decided, but I think I’m going to do it at some point,” Rahm says. “I’m definitely not sure about doing it on the weekend. It’s an opportunity to do something unique, but if I’m in the lead on Sunday, I can guarantee you I won’t do it.”
Both Rahm and Cantlay are part of a stacked field at this weekend’s WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.
