Due to a legal ruling that allows LIV Golf players to compete in DP World Tour events, there are several LIV Golf pros at Wentworth Club in England this week for the BMW PGA Championship, which is one of the signature events on the European tour.

DP World Tour CEO Keith Pelley said that LIV golfers should not be wearing any attire that promotes the rival league while on the course this week.

Patrick Reed, who has been in the headlines quite often throughout this LIV Golf issue, showed up for a practice round on Wednesday with a LIV hat and shirt. He changed the hat, but left the shirt on.

Someone must’ve had a discussion with Reed, however, as he played Thursday’s first round with no LIV markings.

It was just one of the many ways that the tension between LIV and non-LIV golfers has dominated the sport.

Pelley was asked earlier this week what he would do if a LIV golfer won one of the signature events on his tour. He responded by saying, “I would go up and I would shake his hand, and I would say, ‘You have beaten 143 players in a 72-hole tournament, which we believe is a true testament to the game of golf.’”

Reed shot a 1-under 73 in the first round of the BMW PGA Championship, which is seven shots behind leader Tommy Fleetwood.
