Even the world’s best golfers have moments when they’re completely baffled by the status of their golf game. We’ve all been there, and sometimes it just takes a coach with a new perspective to get us back on track.

That’s exactly what happened with reigning Masters champ Patrick Reed last week when his wife Justine made a call to one of golf’s most legendary instructors.

“Justine asked me, ‘Hey, would you be prepared to just have a little look at Patrick? He’s struggling at the moment, he’s sort of lost a little bit. Could you do that for us?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’m here, sure I’ll do it. Absolutely.’” – David Leadbetter

With another disappointing finish on the horizon at last week’s Valspar Championship, Reed was seen on the range working with David Leadbetter, former coach to Nick Faldo, Greg Norman, Ernie Els, and countless other PGA and LPGA champions.

Reed was careful to explain this collaboration in no way signals an end to his relationship with long-time swing coach Kevin Krik.  According to GolfWRX Patrick was quoted saying:

KK and I are really close. That has nothing to do with it. Just trying to improve and get better every day.”

This week we’ll get the opportunity to see if David’s guidance will have any bearing on Reed’s performance as he looks to take on the world’s best players at the WGC-Dell match play event in Austin.
