PGA TOUR Star Says LIV Golfers Should Be Allowed to Play Signature Events
A PGA TOUR star is pushing for the idea of allowing LIV Golfers to come back to the PGA TOUR to play big events, specifically the Signature Events, in an effort to drive more viewership to tournaments and benefit the league as a whole.
It is a controversial and touchy perspective, but in the grand scheme of things, it seems to make sense, especially for the TOUR, an organization that ultimately is out to make money.
Lucas Glover said in a recent appearance on the PGA TOUR SiriusXM show that he believes the high-end names on LIV Golf should be able to come back to the TOUR and compete. It would only benefit the fans, players, and the PGA TOUR as a whole, especially as declining ratings continue to be a stormy cloud over the head of professional golf.
Glover said:
“If you’re going to put on a Signature Event, that’s going to be a top-of-the-line event. Obviously, there’s some top-end, huge top-end talent playing LIV. And players that would obviously benefit the PGA TOUR, and if were going to have a for-profit money-making organization, we’re gonna need those guys. And golf needs them, too. At the end of the day, golf needs them. If that’s unification, if that’s playing head-to-head, whatever they come up with, the best players in the world need to be playing. That doesn’t need to limit only them. It should be a fuller field if you’re putting up $25 million for one of these events. Limiting the fans and limiting the TV audience to 70 or 80 players, it really limits the storylines it limits the drama, and the overall competition.”
Should LIV golfers be allowed into Signature Events? A listener posed the question to Lucas Glover, who is open to it if fields are expanded overall.

Many would say that the golfers who chose to defect to LIV Golf should not be allowed to come back, as they have made their choice. But with ongoing negotiations between the PGA TOUR and the Saudi PIF, a potential unification with LIV seems like it is in the cards.
Players who will come back to the TOUR from LIV could surrender purses or potentially pay a small fine to rejoin the TOUR and gain access to these events and purses. Ultimately, it seems the players are ready to move on from the division.
