Phil Mickelson has made a shocking claim about the future landscape of professional golf after the PGA Tour and LIV Tour merge.

In response to a document that claims the penalties determined for each individual LIV Golfer looking to rejoin the PGA Tour will be different based on the way they left, Mickelson made a drastic statement in a Tweet that claims there is not a single LIV Golfer that is interested in rejoining the PGA Tour.

The basis of a LIV Golfer’s return to the Tour being smoother than another’s based on their vocal discontent of the PGA Tour and its policies seems to be an extension of what many of us would feel if we left a company to join a rival, only for the new company we work for to come to terms with our old employer.

If we were vocal about our previous workplace and the “shortcomings” that came with it, we would be welcomed back, maybe, but it would not be smooth sailing.

But, if we left our old company on good terms, it would make rejoining the first employer a much easier transition.

Except, when it comes to professional golf, things are much different. There are politics, hundreds of millions of dollars at stake, and the reputation of a brand that has dominated professional golf for decades.

Mickelson believes:

“Not a single player on LIV wants to play PGA Tour. It would require a public apology and restitution to LIV players for paying millions to Clout media to disparage all of us. A better topic is future sanctions for the many players who now come to LIV.”

Mickelson is probably the player with the most vocal distaste regarding the PGA Tour since he chose to join LIV. His re-entrance into the PGA Tour would likely be one of the most interesting if it ever happens.

Phil is a fan favorite and someone who has had a very successful career. He has also fought long and hard for players to be treated with respect and dignity and has been right there to call out the Tour for any of its issues.

One LIV golfer, Brooks Koepka, admitted earlier this year that he would have had a tougher decision to leave the Tour if he was not battling injuries. There were even rumors of him attempting to leave LIV and join the Tour, although he never confirmed them.

Personally, I think when the merger terms are finalized, we will see cohesion between the two Tours.

When he isn't golfing, he is probably thinking about golfing, but he might be watching other sports, writing, or playing poker.
