Two of the most vocal supporters of the PGA Tour (and critics of LIV Golf and its CEO Greg Norman) appear to be teaming up to create some new events for PGA Tour pros starting in 2024, according to one report.

Golf Week is reporting that the details were discussed during Tiger Woods’ players-only meeting last Tuesday. Rory McIlroy is also reportedly part of the plan.

Sources told Golf Week that top golfers will compete against each other in a “non-green grass, stadium environment” in one-day events in front of a live audience with “technology-forward” components.

The events will be held throughout the year to complement the PGA Tour schedule and will start in 2024.

The story goes on to say that Woods and McIlroy have been working on the plan for two years and brought it to players’ attention this past week, where it was received positively. Sources say that PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan could offer more details at his press conference this Tuesday prior to the Tour Championship beginning in Atlanta.

Whatever Woods’ initiative is, it will be in addition to increased international events with higher purses for many on the PGA Tour starting in 2024 as well.
