The last three years of Rickie Fowler’s career have been a major struggle, and after switching caddies before the FedEx St. Jude Championship last month, the 33-year-old has parted ways with his longtime swing coach as well.

John Tillery confirmed to ESPN that he will no longer be working with Fowler, who is currently ranked 178th in the Official World Golf Rankings after rising as high as fourth.

“This job will punch you in the gut sometimes. As a coach, there’s nothing better than watching your guys succeed, and nothing worse than watching them struggle. The X’s and O’s of what they need to do is the easy part, but getting it done can be a challenge sometimes, and we didn’t get it done. I’m pulling for him and wish him nothing but the best.”

Fowler won five times on the PGA Tour from 2012-19 but has dropped off in recent years. He failed to reach the BMW Championship in 2020 and then missed the FedEx Cup playoffs for the first time in his career in 2021. This year, he was the final entrant into the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

After parting ways with caddy Joe Skovron, who was with him since his pro debut in 2009, Fowler shot a 65 in the opening round in Memphis. He ended up tied for 64th, which ended his season.

Fowler, who will now be working with swing coach Butch Harmon, has committed to the opening tournament of the 2022-23 PGA Tour season next weekend at the Fortinet Championship in Napa, California. He will have fellow Californian Ricky Romano serving as his caddy for that event.
