Rickie Fowler is Producing a Behind the Scenes Documentary of His Alma Mater

Rickie Fowler is one of the most well-recognized and accomplished golfers on the PGA TOUR and now Fowler is trying his hand at the television industry.

Fowler obviously has plenty of experience in front of the camera. Anyone who watches the Golf Channel or a PGA TOUR even on Sunday has undoubtly seen Rickie’s cameos in television commercials for big brands like Puma, Farmers Insurance, Quicken Loans, Rolex, and Mercedes Benz. But in this instance, Fowler is also stepping behind the camera to be the executive producer of a new series that will follow his alma mater the Oklahoma State golf team. The show is expected to be similar to Hard Knocks but for golf.

To make this series possible, Fowler will be teaming up with NBC Sports and Emmy award winner Ollie Stokes. Stokes did similar work last year, writing the “All-American Access” series that went behind the scenes of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor fight.

Stokes and Fowler will team up to bring behind the scenes coverage to one of golf’s most historic programs.

Rickie is excited to be so involved with his alma mater once again, and that excitement shows whenever he’s asked to talk about the program. “Oklahoma State and Stillwater are a big piece of who I am,” Fowler told USA TODAY. “It’s hard to explain to people what the golf program is. It’s a big family. When NBC and Golf Channel came up with this idea, to tell the story of college golf and the rivalry (Oklahoma State vs. Oklahoma), it was the perfect fit.”

And Oklahoma State seems to be the ideal pick for the camera crews to follow around this season. They are currently the unanimous number one team in college golf and have won seven straight tournaments. Stillwater will also be hosting the Men’s and Women’s Golf National Championships, making for an exciting mini series.

The show titled, Driven: Oklahoma State Cowboys will premiere May 7th on the Golf Channel and continue for two more episodes and a finale on NBC. Golf fans will definitely want to tune in, especially with Fowler adding his unique flair. And we can’t wait to see how it plays out for the Cowboys!
