Rory McIlroy Files for Divorce from Erica Stoll
Rory McIlroy has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife of some seven years, Erica Stoll.
McIlroy filed for divorce on Monday in Florida, according to a report from TMZ. The reasons for the split are not immediately known.
McIlroy and Stoll first met at the 2012 Ryder Cup, where she worked as a volunteer. At the time, Rory was still dating Caroline Wozniacki, and the couple were set to get married. They called off their relationship before they wed, and McIlroy began dating Stoll shortly after.

The couple got engaged in Paris and then married in 2017. Their relationship was kept under wraps for years, but it was basically blown wide open after the birth of their child, Poppy, in 2020.

McIlroy will compete at this week’s PGA Championship in Valhalla, Kentucky, and attempt to win his third Wanamaker Trophy. He is the second-biggest favorite to win the tournament, behind only Scottie Scheffler, who won the first Major Championship of the year at The Masters in mid-April.
