Rory doesn’t care if he wins another major? Come on…we doubt that’s true.

All the talk this year has been surrounding Tiger Woods and if he has the skillset to win another major in his career. Now, however, those questions are starting to consume another PGA TOUR star.

Rory McIlroy is currently sitting just one Masters Championship away from completing the career grand slam but hasn’t done all that well in majors overall recently. He did score the final pairing at Augusta this year but he hasn’t done much to instill confidence that he has what it take to win many more of golf’s top titles.

Asked how he would feel about not winning another major in his career, McIlroy didn’t seem too worried about it. He said that he would certainly be disappointed if he couldn’t capture the grand slam or any other major championship but that it won’t be keeping him up at night. He’s proud of how he’s playing and still ready to compete.

To add to his point, Rory talked about how there are more important factors in his life other than simply winning majors. “I think I’ve always had other interests and had other things that are a big part of my life,” he said. “But I think getting married, thinking about the future and what that entails. As you get older and as you evolve as a person, you change and your perspective changes a little bit. It’s not just the golf nowadays, there’s a lot more that goes into it.”

McIlroy does have much of his career ahead of him, however, as the 29-year-old from Northern Ireland still ranks 8th in the official world golf rankings. And while he hasn’t won a major championship since 2014, he’s still playing competitive golf, as evidenced by his win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and a top-five finish at the Masters this year.

While there is definitely more pressure on someone like Tiger to win a major, the whispers about Rory are just starting to creep in. And now he’ll have two more opportunities to put the doubts to rest.
