Rory McIlroy Told a Fan at Genesis Invitational to ‘STFU’ – Here’s Why
Rory McIlroy was putting up with no funny business on Sunday at the Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines, evident by the fact that he told one fan to “Shut the f*** up” after making an inappropriate comment toward his caddie, Harry Diamond.
McIlroy was on the third hole at Torrey Pines on Sunday, attempting to go low for a chance to be in the mix late in the final round.
However, the Northern Irishman’s flat stick completely abandoned him during most of the weekend, as his putting performance was one of the worst of his career and one of the coldest in recent memory.
One fan did not believe that McIlroy was placing enough blame on his caddie Harry Diamond. Caddies on the professional level usually hold some responsibility to help read greens and determine the break of putts.
Diamond was the fall guy, according to the fan, who yelled at Rory after missing the putt on 3:
“BLAME YOUR CADDIE!”
McIlroy responded:
“SHUT THE F*** UP.”
Rory misses a putt on 3
Random fam: “BLAME YOUR CADDIE”
Rory responds immediately. “shut the f*** up.”
He’s got zero time for any Harry Diamond slander.

Diamond has been beside Rory for the last several years and was even the Best Man at the four-time Major Champion’s wedding.
But there is no denying that Diamond has been under scrutiny in the past few years, especially as McIlroy has continued to go on a ten-year slump in the Majors. Some have pointed blame at Diamond, but it’s ultimately Rory who is out there responsible for shots and execution.
It still has not stopped people from making their opinions heard:
Harry Diamond is the reason he hasn’t won 10 majors. Your best friend can’t be your caddie, maybe early on.

Nevertheless, McIlroy has no issue firing back at critics who are willing to voice their discontent with his caddie.
