Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim Get Chippy During President’s Cup
Scottie Scheffler and Tom Kim got chippy during their fourball matchup with partners Russell Henley and Byeong-Hun An on the first day of the President’s Cup, further solidifying that team golf events seem to bring an extra piece of competition to the mix.
Scheffler and Kim are both from the Dallas, Texas, area and have been friends for some time. However, those friendships go out the window when professional golf comes into the mix.
Yesterday, several things happened during the first-day matchup that set the mood for the rest of the round:
International Team Drops Their Etiquette
Kim and An walked off the 8th green and onto the 9th tee box — a whole 60 yards away — while Scheffler and Henley were still finishing up the hole.
Commentators explained this was a lack of etiquette by the International Team, and rumors are that U.S. Vice Captain Kevin Kisner had words for Camilo Villegas, an International Vice Captain, after it happened:

Whether or not it impacted Scheffler and Henley was probably not the best idea. The last thing Scottie Scheffler needs is a reason to bury your team into the ground.
Kim Gets Firey, Scheffler Responds
On the 7th, Kim hit a lengthy putt to put pressure on Scheffler, who had at least 25 feet even to halve the hole.
Kim yelled, “Let’s go!” as he nailed the putt, but Scheffler responded after he hit his from downtown:
“WHAT WAS THAT?”

Things are certainly getting testy, and as we head into the second day of the event, the competition is sure to still have some fire to it.
The Americans dominated Day 1 by getting all five points on the board, and they have a commanding lead over the International Team.
