Scottie Scheffler is in Montreal this week for the Presidents Cup as he looks to add another accolade from 2024 that already includes Masters winner, Olympic gold medalist, and FedEx Cup champion.

And after this week’s competition as part of the U.S. against a team made up of international players hailing from places besides Europe, Scheffler will turn his attention to what he calls a fun endeavor.

That’s the made-for-TV match with him and Rory McIlroy against LIV Golf stars Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.

Scheffler said to NBC Sports:

“Those are two guys I really miss competing against. When [my agent] originally brought it up to me, I was like, ‘Yeah, it sounds like fun.’”

DeChambeau and Koepka, the two players who won majors while playing under the LIV banner, will go up against Scheffler and the outspoken McIlroy in an event that has been reported to take place in mid-December in Las Vegas. While it is not a part of “The Match” series owned by the PGA Tour, it will be a similar event.

Expect bragging rights to be on the line and the trash-talking to be at a maximum, but Scheffler says at the heart of it all, he will be having a good time.

Scheffler said:

“It’s one of those things where my friendships to guys out there hasn’t really changed that much. I think in the beginning, when some of the guys were suing us [in 2022], that was a bit frustrating for players out here, but over time those things kind of fade. I don’t think there was a ton of ill will for that type of stuff. At the end of the day, you have your business, and you have your personal stuff, and I try not to cross the lines too much just because things get a little hazy there sometimes.”

The contest hasn’t officially been announced after the initial report came out in early September. McIlroy said at the time that he hopes it can be the beginning of the end of this division in men’s pro golf.
