Shot Scope PRO L2: The Top Performing, Reasonably-Priced Rangefinder
There’s no dispute that knowing precision distances to targets, hazards, and pin flags becomes very valuable just for knowing what distances you should be aiming for and must cover. The dilemma here is what option is best, but also doesn’t break the bank.

The Shot Scope PRO L2—available in blue and grey colorways—is an evolution of their initial foray into the rangefinder space, the PRO L1, and incorporates some refinements with some slight improvements that results in a robust offering at an incredibly competitive price point.
Starting with its packaging, the PRO L2 comes in a similar protective case, featuring a zipper and quick-close bungie, with a carabiner so it can be fastened to your golf bag. A cleaning cloth is also included, which is perfect to wipe off any fingerprints, dirt, and humidity that might clog up the PRO L2’s optics.
But at the heart of this is, of course, the PRO L2. Improving on its predecessor, the PRO L2 features a more-contoured design that better fits your hand, particularly with the help of a curved-notch on the bottom so it sits comfortably in between your thumb and index finger.
Conducting a quick 360 of the L2: at the topside of the PRO L2 is the target button, on the left side is a clearly visible slope switch (ensuring the PRO L2 is tournament compliant), on the right side is a magnet, so the PRO L2 can securely latch onto a golf cart, and at the rear is a focus dial on the exterior of the optic to help refine the 6x magnification.
What’s inside the PRO L2 is equally important: a target-lock vibration that helps confirm you’ve hit the pinflag, and not the tree that’s 50 yards behind the green.
On the course, the PRO L2 goes toe-to-toe with the significantly more expensive alternatives; it quickly gives distances up to 700 yards away, displays true and slope-adjusted, “plays like” distances. Hold down the target button, and the PRO L2 will quickly return distances with a flash as you scan across multiple targets.

From a raw performance standpoint, the PRO L2 easily rivals any of the more premium options, including its PRO LX and LX+ brethren, as it only lacks some of the additional bells-and-whistle features like GPS distances and shot-tracking (along with the corresponding data analytics). But while adding those options easily increases costs to exceed $300, the PRO L2 is priced at $150—less than a round of golf at Bethpage’s Black Course for out-of-state visitors or the cost of two rounds at your favorite local spot, or—most relevant here—less than any other similarly-equipped rangefinder.
What this means is that the PRO L2 can provide you with much needed precisions distances without putting a double-bogey on your bank account, making it a perfect birthday, Father’s Day or holiday gift for your favorite golfer.
Combine this with Shot Scope’s 2-year limited warranty, and the PRO L2—which can be ordered on Shot Scope’s website or at your local retailers, including Golf Galaxy and PGA TOUR SuperStore—will easily become a staple in your bag.
