Tiger Woods Alludes to the Idea that He Might be Considering Retirement
With the Presidents Cup beginning on Thursday, many of America’s biggest names in golf took to the course. One notable name was missing from the United States team, however, but only on the course.
Tiger Woods has been a mainstay on the United States golf teams for well over the past decade. Unable to play much golf this year and qualify as a player, Woods is still at the Presidents Cup but only as an alternate captain. But still, even as merely a captain of the team, Woods made some of the biggest news from the competition on day one.
Asked about his timetable to return to professional golf, Woods shocked the community by saying he’s not sure if he’ll ever play professionally again. This comes as a surprise for many fans, as Woods was posting about his excitement to return to the game on his blog as recently as May. Still recovering, however, Tiger hasn’t hit a golf ball further than 60 yards since his most recent surgery.

Woods is still firmly just working on him for now, stating, “First things first: Get my health organized. Make sure the pain goes away. Then, basically, just as I said, just keeping waiting for what my surgeon says. I’m still training. I’m getting stronger. But I certainly don’t have my golf muscles trained because obviously I’m not doing anything golf-related.” Then when asked if he could see himself not playing again, Woods said, “Yeah, definitely. I don’t know what my future holds for me.”
This is certainly a sad turn of events for the former number one golfer in the world. The year began with so much hope for Tiger, as he was expected to be healthy for the first time in years and ready to compete. After another injury and off the course incident, however, the year has plummeted into another disappointing one for him.

Golf aside, we can all hope that Tiger gets healthy before anything else. Hopefully, he will be able to do that and return to the course before deciding to hang up his spikes.
