Tiger Woods has pulled out of the Genesis Invitational this weekend after committing to the tournament last week, in what would have been his first appearance in professional golf since last Summer.

The 15-time Major Champion said last week that he would be playing in the Genesis Invitational, a tournament he has hosted for some time. It usually takes place at The Riviera Golf Club in Los Angeles, but has been shifted to Torrey Pines in San Diego as a result of the LA wildfires.

Woods is dealing with the loss of his Mother, Kultida, who passed away in early February.

It seems it is still impacting Woods at this point, who said he is not ready to play at this point:

Woods said:

“I planned to tee it up this week, but I’m just not ready. I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss. Thanks to everyone who has reached out. I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued kindness since my Mom’s passing.”

Woods has dealt with injuries and now personal issues and it seems that it has become too much to handle at this time. Who can blame him? Kultida was a huge part of his success, as well as his father, Earl, who passed away in 2006.

When he isn't golfing, he is probably thinking about golfing, but he might be watching other sports, writing, or playing poker.
