Tiger Woods Ready to Compete with Growing Event List
The world’s former number one golfer is back and ready to start off the 2017 season strong. After a year filled with disappointment and injury, Tiger Woods is back and ready to take the golf world by storm.
Besides starting the new year by playing a round with President-elect Donald Trump, Woods has officially committed to play in several tournaments that will take place early in the PGA TOUR season.
Tiger will start his season off later this month, at the Farmer’s Insurance Open. The Farmer’s looks like the perfect tournament for Woods to start off with as the event will be played at Torrey Pines, a course where Woods has had the most success in his career, winning there a record eight times.
Of those victories, seven of them were the Farmer’s Insurance Open and the other was the U.S. Open in 2008.
Officials are happy to see Woods return to the event he has dominated in the past, with Century Club CEO Peter Ripa releasing a statement saying, “We’re thrilled our fans will have the opportunity to see Tiger in addition to what is already a very strong field for the Farmers Insurance Open.”

Following the Farmer’s Insurance Open, Woods has also committed to play three more tournaments in February.
First, Woods will compete in the Dubai Open in the United Arab Emirates, an event he has won twice in the past. Following that event, Tiger will compete in the Genesis Open at the Riviera in the middle of February, a tournament he hasn’t participated in since 2006. Die-hard Tiger fans will remember that this was also the first PGA tour event Woods ever competed in.

The final event that Woods has confirmed he will compete in is Honda Classic at the end of February. The tournament will be played in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, close to Woods’ home.
As the confirmations roll in, that gives Tiger four events to compete in within five weeks. All of these events seem to be leading to a triumphant return to The Masters in April, a major that Tiger has won four times in the past.
While the return of Woods to the PGA TOUR on a full-time basis for the first time in over a year will certainly generate a lot of excitement, it remains to be seen if the Tiger of old is able to return to his past dominance.
