TOUR: Collin Morikawa Up to No. 4 in the World After Victory at The Concession
Following a dominant performance and victory at the challenging Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida, former No. 6 golfer in the world Collin Morikawa rises two spots in the Official World Golf Ranking.
In a tournament where players struggled to find consistency with almost every facet of their game, Morikawa seemed masterful and oblivious to the demanding tests that this course had to offer.
His weekend was highlighted by five consecutive birdies on holes No. 5-9 during moving day.
Collin Morikawa was 5th best in a field of 71 golfers at the percentage of tee shots which came to rest on a fairway at an impressive 83.93% rate throughout the tournament. The average was 71.15%, according to PGATOUR.com
The WGC Champion ranked 1st in Strokes Gained: Approach at +2.393. Morikawa leads the PGA TOUR with a +1.305 Strokes Gained: Approach thus far in the 2021 season. There is still a lot of golf to play, but with the consistent ball-striking abilities that Collin Morikawa possesses, I don’t think he will be shying away from that leaderboard anytime soon.
The 24-year-old earned himself 550 FedEx Cup points, skyrocketing him to no. 14 in the FedEx cup standings.
