SPOTTED: Has Brooks Koepka Locked Up His Ryder Cup Spot?
In less than 24 hours, Team USA Captain Zach Johnson will confirm his captain’s picks. And while rumors continue to swirl over who will make the team and compete alongside World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler, U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark, Open Championship winner Brian Harman, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa and Xander Schauffele, Brooks Koepka—in spite of being a LIV defector—continues to make sure his name is in the mix.

Over the weekend, Brooks’ wife Jena Sims made a not-so-subtle post showing Brooks eating some pizza (Italian) (hint) on an American flag (hint) plate with “Foreshadowing” and Italian flags superimposed across his chest.
You see, because Brooks defected, he was unable to acquire sufficient points on the OWGR to make him an automatic qualifier, despite finishing second at the Masters and winning the PGA Championship.
Add to the fact that Brooks has a decent Ryder Cup record—6-5-1, including 2-0-1 in Sunday singles—and many would think we could overlook the LIV dilemma, especially after the LIV-PGA-DPWT Merger, to make sure that Team USA is the strongest it can be to overcome the 30-year win drought on foreign soil.
Brooks, however, isn’t the only LIV golfer being considered. Some have also suggested Bryson DeChambeau be nominated to join the team. Bryson, however, faces a much steeper hill to claim considering his 2023 Major performances—missed cut at the Masters, T-4 at the PGA Championship, T-20 at the U.S. Open, and T-60 at the Open.
Regardless of how you feel about LIV golfers on the Ryder Cup team, Zach will be confirming the team in the very near future, and we should all agree on what matters most: winning at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.
