Wednesday Night Tilt: The Clintons Used to Sponsor this Tournament

Published

Welcome back to the Wednesday Night Tilt. Let’s just try to not lose this week, how about that?

We’ve got the Desert Classic this week starting us back in the continental US for the west coast swing. What comes to mind when we hear Desert Classic? For me its this ridiculous picture of Duf Daddy and Slick Willy from 2016. Kings of Cool.

Outside of that this tournament is an absolute Birdie fest where the winner hits greens and putts lights out. Lets check out some options for our outright winner pick.

Outright Winner:

The odds on favorite to win is Rahm at (+700) which i just hate because defending a title  almost never happens so lets just throw him out.

Next is Justin Rose, at +900, who should be the outright favorite. He’s purely the best player on the planet and anytime he steps on the course this year he will have a shot to win.

I won’t be putting money on him this week though because with such an easy venue, all of these guys can get hot and win this week so my overall recommendation is to skip the outright winner bet this week, but if you must bet it look at the following value plays.

Andrew Putnam (+3000)

We just need a little sprinkle here because all were doing is looking for value. Putnam has been red hot on the greens leading the tour in SG putting.

Yes i know its a very small sample size but it supports the pick so just relax. Coming off a 2nd place finish at Waialae we know he can hit greens as well. +3000 is a huge line for someone this hot.

Picking the outright winner in any tournament is nearly impossible so we might as well take the value pick. Also this line will let us know we could get some good match-ups for him in the head to heads.

Chez Reavie (+4000)

This guy is all over the stick with his iron/wedge play. He dunked 3 shots from over 100 yards in one round! THREE ARE YOU KIDDING?

If that’s me I’ve got so much confidence going into the easiest courses of the year. Lets this mans putter get hot and we could cash in BIG.

Head to Head Matchups:

2.6u on Chez Reavie (-130) vs Aaron Wise:

Aaron Wise has caught a ton of hype because he got hot at the end of last year but his game is bomb the ball and kind of shit it around just enough to be okay. You don’t need to bomb it during this tournament to play well. Reavie by a million.

1.15u on Phil (-115) vs Patton Kizzire:

Phil has a history of playing well during this tournament which he is the ambassador of. I’m not really concerned with how Kizzire is playing right now because his past has shown that this is where his wheels fall off after playing well in the early season.

1.2u on Daniel Berger (-120) vs Harold Varner III:

Daniel Berger never plays this event which is a little troubling, BUT Varner hasn’t ever made the cut here so I am very willing to throw my cash on Berger who is just a much better player. Also Berger’s instagram name @DB_straitvibin is upper echelon of all IG handles. You just don’t bet against this type of knowledge.

Good luck to everyone this week. Also Love the Pats +3 with Tom Brady having a chip on his shoulder. Just no shot anyone blows out Belichick and Brady in the playoffs.
