Workday Charity Open | Fantasy Picks, Betting Odds, Bets I LOVE this Week
The Tour heads to Ohio for the first leg of the double-header at Muirfield Village this week. The Workday Charity Open replaces the John Deere Classic on the schedule this year, and will serve as a warm-up for the Memorial Tournament being held at the same venue the following week. Big stars highlight the field this week, while some of the biggest names in golf are absent. Rory Mcilroy and Tiger Woods aren’t in the field, but are likely to start next week at the Memorial.
Top Tier
Patrick Cantlay – $10,600
In his first start back from the break, Cantlay finished T11 at the Travelers. Many expected there to be some rust, but he came out the gates like he hadn’t missed a beat. Patrick also loves this golf course, as he’ll be the defending champion at the Memorial this year. He also rolled it better than anyone in Connecticut, only needing 106 putts for the week.
Justin Thomas – $11,100
Aside from a missed cut at the Travelers, JT has 2 Top 10 finishes since returning from the break. His record at Muirfield is up-and-down, as he has missed the cut 3 times, but has captured Top 10s in his 2 other starts. I don’t see JT missing back-to-back cuts, and expect him to be near the top entering Sunday.
Xander Schauffele – $10,200
Xander is a solid play every week in fantasy. Always seems to be near the top of the leaderboard, and can go low whenever he wants. He has shown form since the return, with a T3 at the Charles Schwabb and a T20 at the Travelers. He finished T14 at Muirfield last year, and ranks 10th in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green.
Middle Tier
Justin Rose – $9,700
Rosey loves this place. He’s 2nd in all time earnings at Muirfield Village, with a victory back in 2010. He has another 7, Top 10 finishes, highlighted by a couple 2nd place finishes. He missed the cut at the Travelers, but was T3 at the Charles Schwab and T14 at the RBC Heritage.
Matt Kuckar – $8,500
Kuch is another guy that seems comfortable at the course. Before a MC last year, he went 11-11 in cuts made since 2007. In that stretch he had a win, T2, and 3 Top 5’s. Hasn’t played much since the return, with a MC at the Chalres Schwab and a T41 at the RBC Heritage. Look for him to get back to normal here, at a course he loves.
Other Options
Kevin Streelman – $7,800
He may be the most inconsistent guy on Tour, which makes this pick kind of odd. He’s coming off a solo 2nd at the Travelers, and finished solo 4th at the Memorial last year. Form and history is something I always look at, and he fits the bill.
