Your PGA TOUR Player of the Year is Justin Thomas
Before this past season began on the PGA, Justin Thomas had a single win on tour.
He now has five wins under his belt, including a Major and a FedExCup win at The Dell Technologies Championship. He also won the FedExCup Championship.
Oh, and he shot a 59 this season and a 9-under-par 63 in the third round of the U.S. Open (the lowest score shot in major history in relation to par).
All of that beat out his pal, Jordan Spieth, for the Jack Nicklaus Trophy. A trophy handed to the player of the year voted on by his fellow competitors.

“It’s a huge honor,” Thomas said. “Any time you can win an award with someone like Jack Nicklaus’ name on the award, it definitely means a lot, and it’s something that I’ll cherish for a while for sure.”
At 24, Justin becomes just the fourth golfer ever to win five times, including a Major, before his 25th birthday. The other three? Spieth, Nicklaus, and Tiger.
Now that’s some elite company.

For a lot of us that watch a lot of golf, it seemed like JT’s breakthrough was only a matter of time. While he only won once in 2016, he finished within the top 25 in 10 of the 28 tournaments he played. He also simply passed the eye test. His skill level was apparent and you could see him getting better and more comfortable with each round he played.
It’s going to be a lot of fun watching Thomas battle his good buddy Spieth for the next ten years or so.
