On May 6th of 2019 another prestigious honor was awarded to Tiger Woods. It wasn’t a major or a shiny new trophy it was the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is an award bestowed by the President of the United States. The Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal are the highest civilian awards of the United States. Long time playing partner, occasionally business partner and current leader of the free world Donald Trump awarded Woods with his medal in the garden of the white House Monday. Among the approximately 100 guests sat Tigers mother Kultida, his two children and his girlfriend Eric Herman. Tigers caddie Joe Lacava and his longtime agent Mark Steinberg were also in attendance.

It’s no surprise that the guest list was limited to close family, friends and business partners. Woods has is a well-documented private person so limiting the attendees to people who are in the inner circle makes sense.

Woods has been a golf prodigy since he was a kid. Early success as a junior only paved the way for a bright and prosperous career in the game of golf. His father Earl said that his son would change the world through golf. Tiger has been responsible for helping raise millions of dollars for charity through his popularity.

Bringing the game to people who may not have even tried experienced it and even rebuilding a course in Chicago that will give inner city youth an opportunity to play this great game once it is completed.  Earl Woods have expected great things from his son. But I’m guessing he never thought a medal from the president was a possibility. You never know what’s possible until it happens. Woods joins Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Charles Sifford as the only golfers to receive this honor.

Ed started playing golf when he was 18. It started out as a hobby and something he liked to do but by 2014 it had turned into a full blown obsession. Since then Ed has committed himself to improving and learning more about the game. He doesn’t work in the golf industry, he’s not a teaching pro, he’s a guy who just loves the game and enjoys sharing his thoughts with others who share the same passion.
