One ball is universally known as the best ball. Ask any group of golfers enjoying a post round drink what is the best ball in golf and most of them will say the Pro V. When you shank your ball into the woods and you come out with a gently used Pro V it’s like finding an Easter egg. Well back in 2018 the folks at Titleist came out with the AVX. This ball actually has the potential to knock the Pro V out of the top spot because it has been so universally loved.

Frank was raving about this ball so much before his ball fitting I thought he was going to get AVX tattooed on his arm.

As we have already seen this year, the engineers at Titleist haven’t been taking it easy when it comes to their ball design. Everything about the AVX has been redesigned to bring total performance from tee to green.

• The engine of 2020 AVX – a larger, reformulated low compression core – works in combination with a redesigned high flex casing layer to deliver greater ball speed and low long game spin for more distance.

• A new, thinner cast urethane cover – specifically formulated for AVX by Titleist Golf Ball R&D chemists – delivers increased spin and control for improved greenside performance.

• The increased core size also produces an even softer-feeling AVX.

Every AVX is made by Titleist associates in the company’s state-of-the-art Ball Plant 3 manufacturing facility to the highest performance and quality specifications in the industry, ensuring the most consistent performance ball to ball, and dozen to dozen. The AVX will be  available in a white or a Yellow cover.

I absolutely love that Titleist is offering the Yellow option more and more. I remember when playing a yellow ball was a bit of a hack move. The ball wasn’t as good and they felt like a rock.

The yellow option is becoming more popular and having personal switched to a colored ball for my fall season last year, I can say with confidence it’s worth trying. If you’re already a fan of the AVX or if you want to give them a go in 2020, they will be  available in golf shops worldwide beginning Jan. 22 — which is TODAY for $47.99 per dozen.

Ed started playing golf when he was 18. It started out as a hobby and something he liked to do but by 2014 it had turned into a full blown obsession. Since then Ed has committed himself to improving and learning more about the game. He doesn’t work in the golf industry, he’s not a teaching pro, he’s a guy who just loves the game and enjoys sharing his thoughts with others who share the same passion.
