Fitness Friday – Exercises to Improve Hip Rotation

Golficity Golf Instruction, Training & Fitness 1 Comment

Fitness Friday is back this week (just one day late) with Kirk Adams, Director of Fitness at Golf & Body NYC.

This time Krik shows us how to hip rotation so you can make a better turn through your golf swing.

For more here’s Kirk’s detailed explanation from The Golf Podcast Facebook Group.

This week I’m answering one of the questions from our members in the Facebook group. David Hughes asked about exercises to improve hip rotation and making a better turn through the swing.

There are a lot of factors that go into making a full, well sequenced hip turn in your swing, but if this is something you struggle with, trying adding this medicine ball drill into your workouts. I would suggest doing 2-3 sets of 6 reps on each side with a 6-8 lb. medicine ball. Think faster, not heavier.

Good info, Kirk. I like your video tips. The other huge factor with hip mobility is tightness in the internal hip rotators, which I find in many golfers I work with. Stretching them along with drills like the one you described are essential for better swing mechanics.
