FlightScope MEVO Gen 2 Review: The Upgrade We’ve Been Waiting For?
After nearly five years of anticipation, FlightScope has finally released the second generation of their MEVO launch monitor. And for many in the golf tech world, it’s a big deal.
The original MEVO Plus set a benchmark for performance and value, but now, with new features, a redesigned form factor, and a lower starting price, the MEVO Gen 2 aims to carry that legacy forward.
What’s in the Box?
Out of the box, the MEVO Gen 2 comes with a compact carrying case, a charging cable, a quick start guide, and a set of reflective ball stickers.
If you’re using Titleist RCT balls—like we did during our tests—those stickers aren’t necessary.
Outdoors, you can use any golf ball, but indoors or in limited flight environments (like hitting into a net), either RCT balls or reflective stickers are required for accurate readings.

The form factor has been updated too. Compared to the MEVO Plus, the Gen 2 is now vertically oriented and comes with an improved integrated kickstand.
It’s also slightly lighter, likely due to more plastic and rubber components versus metal. It still occupies about the same footprint as before, making it easy to transport.
Features and Data
The MEVO Gen 2 uses FlightScope’s patented Fusion Tracking Technology, a blend of 3D Doppler radar and synchronized image processing. The result is a system that promises highly accurate, measured—not calculated—data. And that distinction is critical.
You get full data tracking for ball and club, including:
- Carry distance
- Ball speed
- Clubhead speed
- Smash factor
- Launch angle
- Spin rate
- Spin axis
- Face angle
- And more (with optional add-ons)
It even supports data for chipping and putting, covering your entire bag.
The MEVO Gen 2 integrates with third-party software like E6, Awesome Golf, and GS Pro. These platforms may require their own licenses or subscriptions, but the MEVO’s compatibility adds significant flexibility. Even better, the unit comes bundled with a lifetime E6 simulation bundle, including eight courses.

FlightScope’s own software is also free and offers skills challenges, shot tracer overlays using the onboard camera, and video analysis tools.
No Subscription Fees (Mostly)
The base MEVO Gen 2 comes without any recurring subscription fees, which is a breath of fresh air for many golfers. However, to unlock certain advanced metrics, like face impact location or the full Pro Package, there is a one-time fee.
These add-ons are the same ones previously offered with the MEVO Plus and cost $699 for the Pro Package or $975 for the full bundle including face impact location.
Setup Considerations
You’ll need 8 feet of space behind the ball and another 8 feet of ball flight to use the MEVO Gen 2 properly—so 16 feet total. That’s manageable on a range but could be a challenge for some home simulator setups.

The onboard camera helps with alignment during setup, and getting the unit calibrated is simple and fast.
Real-World Accuracy Test (vs. Foresight GC3)
We put the MEVO Gen 2 through its paces against the Foresight GC3, one of the most trusted launch monitors on the market. Here’s how it fared with different clubs:
Mid Iron (8-Iron):
- Carry distance within 1-3 yards
- Ball and club speeds within 2 mph
- Launch angles within 2°
- Spin axis and total spin nearly identical
Wedge:
- Carry distances varied by up to 4 yards
- Spin rates within 100 RPM
- Launch angle from MEVO was consistently ~3° higher
- Still very usable and consistent
Driver:
- Here’s where things got tricky.
- Carry distances were off by as much as 9–15 yards compared to GC3
- Ball and club speed were nearly identical
- Significant differences in spin readings—up to 1000 RPM
- MEVO tended to read carry distances low, likely due to its reliance on radar in short-flight environments
It’s worth noting that the MEVO’s accuracy with driver likely improves with more ball flight. Our test setup had 10 feet of flight—enough to meet requirements but still relatively short for a radar unit.
Value and Price
The MEVO Gen 2 is priced at $1,199—considerably lower than the MEVO Plus, which comes in around $1,800. Even with the Pro Package and face impact location add-on, the MEVO Gen 2 still lands around the $2,000 mark, which is competitive for a feature-rich launch monitor.
But here’s the thing: at this price point, MEVO is up against some stiff competition.
-
Rapsodo MLM2PRO:
$699 base price. Full ball and club data available with a $499 lifetime subscription, putting your total around $1,200. Works indoors and outdoors. -
Square Golf Launch Monitor:
$699 base price with no subscription fees, however the Square is designed to work indoors only.
If FlightScope had included the Pro Package at the $1,199 price point, it could’ve dominated the mid-tier launch monitor market. As it stands, you’ll have to weigh your need for additional data against your budget.
Final Thoughts
The MEVO Gen 2 is a strong evolution of FlightScope’s portable launch monitor lineup. It’s accurate (especially with irons and wedges), easy to use, and feature-packed. While its radar-based technology appears to struggle slightly with driver indoors, it still offers outstanding performance at a reasonable base price.
However, if you’re planning to unlock all the features with add-ons, you could be pushing the total price closer to $2,000—where other premium options start to become tempting.
Still, with no required subscriptions, a lifetime E6 bundle, and powerful core data tracking, the MEVO Gen 2 is a very compelling option for serious golfers and home simulator users alike.
