Ian Poulter Announces Closure of His Failing Golf Apparel Company
In the midst of his comeback attempt, Ian Poulter has been forced to make a difficult decision off of the course. Recently it was announced today that Poulter will be ending his clothing line after operating for the past decade.
Customers received an email this morning from IJP Design confirming the move to end production and others visiting the site are welcomed to bold text that reads ““IJP DESIGN’S ONLINE SHOP IS CLOSING DOWN.” This was followed by a note personally written by Poulter explaining the decision.
In this note to loyal customers, Poulter stated that his line has “been unable to justify its continuation after many years of investing in the business and a number of attempts to reshape it against an ever increasingly competitive landscape.” One has to wonder whether this decision also has to deal with Poulter’s professional struggles.

Poulter is still in jeopardy of being kicked off of the PGA TOUR after not competing in several tournaments due to injury coupled with his ineffectiveness in the events he has been able to participate in. Since he is not winning many purses, this lack of funds could be another reason for the ending of his brand.
Poulter originally launched IJP Design in 2007, as a way to spread his unique, flashy style on the course. Originally starting the line in Europe, he eventually expanded to markets in the U.S. and in China along with adding women and children lines to his previously all male brand.
Thank you for your support of @ijpdesign. It’s a sad day to say goodbye. To everyone who bought and worked for IJP Design.

It is possible, perhaps, that if Poulter is able to succeed in his comeback attempt on the PGA TOUR that he could have the funding and desire to start producing clothing again but for now, fans of IJP Design will have to do their shopping elsewhere.
