Dustin Johnson started the day with a two stroke lead over Brian Harmon. This lead would only increase throughout the round.

After two steady pars on one and two Johnson capitalizes on a massive drive by throwing a dart on the green and sinking his birdie putt for his first of the day. Harmon makes a mistake while putting from the rough and three putts for bogey on three for a two shot swing.

Rain begins to fall in separate areas of the golf course. Sometimes the rain and wind are extreme and the conditions become more and more difficult for the players. With the greens slowing down because of the rain Johnson and Harmon both settle for par on four. Johnson and Harmon both birdie the fifth to make the deficit for Harmon 4 shots. Johnson birdies 6 while Harmon settles for par.

The seventh hole is a great example of the dominant golf that Dustin Johnson can play. After a long and accurate drive Johnson controls a wedge on the green and makes his birdie putt. When all aspects of his game are at this level it is very difficult to beat him. Johnson seems to have made a mistake with his club choice at 8 when he ends up short and in the bunker. He pulls out an amazing sand save while Harmon three putts.

Harmon finds a much needed birdie on 9, however Johnson matches him to reach 20 under for the tournament. Johnson has another miscalculation on 11 with his club selection, once again finding the bunker short. With a terrible lie Johnson manages to two putt for his first and only bogey of the day.

The twelfth hole is a 433 yard downhill par four. The wind was helping and Johnson had just made bogey on the last hole. With a little help from the wind and taking some anger and frustration out on his tee shot Johnson is able to land his drive on the downslope and chase the ball up onto the green. The ball was tracking the whole way when it was on the green. When it got to the middle of the green me and every other golf fan watching this ball was screaming “Get in the hole.” The ball finished an inch or two short of a Happy Gilmore hole in one on a par four.

Dustin Johnson nearly holes it from 430 yards at Sentry

SUBSCRIBE to PGA TOUR now: http://pgat.us/vBxcZSh In the final round of the 2018 Sentry Tournament of Champions, Dustin Johnson gets a fabulous roll from his 430 yards on the par-4 12th hole and taps for an eagle. 2018 starts with the Sentry Tournament of Champions, contested at Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course on Maui.

Johnson would tap in for eagle and coast to victory at the plantation course. A dominant 8 stroke victory which, I believe, is only a glimpse of what Johnson will accomplish this season on tour. Johnson showed outstanding ability to drive the golf ball both accurately and with distance. His wedge game was exceptional and his putting had improved substantially from the past year. If Dustin Johnson can keep his game firing on all cylinders the way that it was this week at Kapalua he is going to have a very fun and successful season. While all of these young superstars of the tour are going to have their work cut out for them if they want to compete with Dustin Johnson.

My first love was baseball. I made the Junior Varsity Team my Freshman year of High School. That following Summer my Dad brought me to play my first round of Golf. I immediately fell in love with the game and became obsessed. I found myself playing nine holes before I had to be on the field for warmups. Golf was always on my mind. I began to follow the World’s Best and learn the mechanics and fundamentals of the game. I became obsessed with getting better. As my interests as a player in the game increased so did my interest as a fan. I began to religiously follow the PGA Tour and the best players in the world. I was memorized by their perfect swings and outstanding short games. This was just the beginning of my obsession with the beautiful game of Golf.
